About Dunstan Steads Camping

Dunstan Steads Camping occupies a working farm just outside Alnwick, offering straightforward grass pitches for tents and motorhomes in a landscape of spectacular Northumberland scenery. It's a pop-up site with around 26-50 pitches on uneven, sometimes gravelly terrain—basic in the best sense, with portable loos but no running water or showers. That rustic setup won't suit everyone, but it keeps things simple and the location more than compensates.

You're well positioned for beach access, cycling routes, and nearby sailing or golf, with Alnwick's shops, pubs and restaurants a short hop away. The site welcomes families, Duke of Edinburgh groups, students and motorcyclists, though dogs aren't allowed. Pitches start around £20 a night—a solid, no-frills base for exploring castles, coast and countryside without fuss.

An excellent caravan and camping club site, definitely living up to the friendly site name. Busy but spacious. Super clean facilities, the wardens are on the go all the time keeping everything in perfect order, but still have time for a friendly word. Looking forward to going back again.

A superb, dog-friendly nature campsite with spacious, scenic, and flat pitches. Facilities are well-maintained, with two wash blocks so one is always open. It's a great spot for walking, with a dog-friendly beach just 30 minutes away on foot. Note that you must come well-stocked with food, as there are no nearby supermarkets without a six-mile drive.

Just got home after a two night stay at this campsite. We were met by a lovely and very friendly pair of colleagues… Clair and Mark who greeted us with a very warm welcome. Especially Mark who was funny and nice too. Site was very good with clean toilets and showers etc. We had a lovely walk to the beach with the dogs then over the fields to the little village where we enjoyed a pint. I would have given this place a higher rating but for the horrible warden who came whizzing over on his e-bike. We were just about packed up when he came over and asked if we were departing in a very cold manner… we clearly were as just about everything was in the campervan…. We were 11 mins over the 12:00 cut off. My partner asked if we could stay an hour in the car park to go for one last walk down the beach when he gruffly replied NO… we don’t allow that. I could understand at high season when really busy but there was hardly anyone there. Maybe he needs to go on a customer service course… as he has totally let the site down 👌

Facilities are good and kept in very good condition. The site feels nicely spaced out, which makes it more relaxing and not overcrowded. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and it’s also really close to the beach which is a big plus. Overall, a really good site and would definitely come back.
