St Abbs Cottage comes ready to use. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all provided, so you arrive to a functioning home rather than a list of things to arrange. The kitchen has a gas cooker, microwave and full-size fridge, letting you cook properly or keep meals simple as you choose. Downstairs, an open-plan living space combines sitting and dining areas with a Freeview TV and DVD player for quieter evenings.

Upstairs holds three bedrooms: one with a double bed (accessed from one side only), and two rooms with single beds each. A walk-in shower and toilet serve the whole cottage. Outside, there's an enclosed patio with garden furniture and a barbecue, plus parking for two cars on site. One dog stays free. The cottage sits at the end of a small terrace in Belford village, a quiet spot on a no-through road with a burn running nearby, though if you need to freshen up laundry there's a public launderette next door.

Belford itself has pubs, cafés, shops and bus services. The coastal village of Bamburgh and its castle lie five miles east, with a long sandy beach. No smoking inside.
