Cygnet Cottage

Walk through the door of Cygnet Cottage and you find yourself in a living room facing the River Coquet, with a wood-burning stove already lit. The Smart TV, fibre wi-fi and comfortable seating mean you can settle in straight away. Through to the kitchen and dining space—equipped with an electric oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine—you can cook properly or simply make tea and watch the river from the small sunroom window. Upstairs, two bedrooms overlook the water: one with a double bed, the other with bunk beds. The bathroom has a bath with shower. Heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included.

The cottage sits on the banks of the Coquet in Warkworth village, where pubs and cafés line streets leading up to the castle on the hill—a five-minute walk away. The coast is within a mile. Your dog stays free and you have a front garden with furniture and parking on the road. The atmosphere is quiet, but not isolated: the working harbour at Amble, just beyond, has boat trips and a Sunday market. There is no smoking inside.
