You enter Lapwing Cottage to an open-plan ground floor where living, dining and kitchen flow together without walls between them. The living room centres on a sofa bed and modern electric fire, with a large arched window overlooking the grounds where wildlife moves through the quiet landscape. The bedroom holds a zip-and-link super king bed—split into twin beds on request—and there's a memory foam single in the living area if a third guest is a child or another adult. The shower room and kitchen with electric cooking are both tucked into the single-storey layout, designed for a compact but functional stay.
Lapwing is one of four cottages on this rural Northumberland site, each with their own parking space and access to shared landscaped grounds. You get a small patio to the front and use of the wider garden with seating and a barbecue. An external utility room holds a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. One well-behaved dog stays free, and you can fish for salmon or trout in the River Coquet with the right permit. The bridle path to St Oswald's runs past the gate. Morpeth is within reach, and the Northumberland coast and hills are roughly twenty minutes away by car. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wi-fi are all included. No smoking indoors.

Our first visit and won’t be our last. Beautiful accommodation, spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable. Louise made us feel very welcome, our family (including dogs) loved our stay.

The pictures really don't do the cottages justice. Absolutely spotless, everything you need is there, there was a pint of milk, eggs and a scone n jam ( which were lush) We stayed in Robin cottage , it is absolutely huge ,and so peaceful, opening the curtains and seeing the wildlife , hearing birds sing Local shops are good , given there size, Louise was there to greet and show us around , lovely lady . Checkout is 10am , not 9 am as the booking site said . Really enjoyable , and will definitely return

Owl Cottage provided us with excellent accommodation for our week exploring Northumberland. Louise welcomed us and made us feel at home, right away. We found it to be very clean and fresh. The cottage is spacious in every room, with very comfortable beds, great showers and a lovely lounge overlooking the extremely well kept garden. We wished we had a kitchen/breakfast room like the one in the Cottage! We needed for nothing and the Cottage was central for all areas of the County. A superb week - thank you Louise.
