First and foremost, a big shout out to Laura, whi is the best tour guide in the history of tour guides. She is very knowledgeable and will offer a very comprehensive picture of the idea she express. She has a very funny way of replying to questions, too. The house itself knew a lot of history. Some great moments but also some not so great moments. Many rich families came and left the place, leaving a mark, more or less important, on the history pf the house. It is tied to the Gordons family, who played an important part in the Scottish history. A very important moment in history, was the Second World War when Haddo house became a hospital and where 1200 babiea were born. They are named even today, haddo babies. Inside the house you can see a vast variety of artefacts, paintings, ceramics, etc. The sides of the house used to be a stable and a kitchen. The main entrance was very different than what can be seen today. There was no main entrance. As part of the National Trust Scotland, members can visit it for free. You can visit it as part of a guided tour, which takes a bit over an hour.

What a fantastic place to visit! The history of the building is fascinating, I loved the beautiful portraits and all the rooms are nicely decorated. I loved the curvy corridor that led to the library which was one of my favourite rooms in the property. The church is still used by the family so it felt extra special to be let in there. I spent 20 minutes in the room where the beautiful paintings are displayed about all the castles in Aberdeenshire. There is a huge ground around the property where we walked out dogs. There is a lot to see here. There are plenty of parking spaces, there are toilet facilities near the shop, there are also two cafés you can choose from. It is worth a visit! I can highly recommend Haddo House!

We visit the Haddo House in Ellon on early March and the flowers wasn’t fully bloomed, because they are setting up the garden and flowers at that time. Better to check opening times even though it mentioned as closed in google maps you can still visit and have a walk around the gardens and around the house 🏠 It’s a nice place and love the path which leads to the Haddo House, nice scenery if it’s a sunny day. There are 2 coffee shops, it’s a paid parking 🅿️ It’s better if you can visit this on May or June. Love to visit this place again, it’s dog friendly and well worth for visiting again in summer just to enjoy the smell of blooming fresh flowers 🌹

We didn't visit the house but we had a very relaxing time wandering around the lovely gardens and the grounds. All the grounds are wheel chair accessible. You may have to ask in the gift shop how to get to the gardens in a wheelchair as its not obvious. Very friendly and helpful staff. There are 2 cafes on the site and both do very good food and coffee. Highly recommended.
