Baile-na-Cille
Timsgarry, Uig, Isle of Lewis · Guest House
A relaxed, family-run guest house on Uig Bay's white sands, on Lewis's remote west coast.
About Baile-na-Cille
Baile-na-Cille occupies a former manse on the shore of Uig Bay, one of the most remote and least visited corners of Lewis, with a long stretch of white sand directly in front of the house and hills rising behind. It has been run for decades in an informal, house-party style rather than as a conventional hotel.
Bedrooms are comfortably old-fashioned, spread through the main house and an adjoining wing, and the dining room serves a set evening meal built around local seafood and garden produce, taken communally at shared tables in the manner of a country house rather than a restaurant.
Its position on Uig Bay is remote even by Hebridean standards, roughly forty minutes' drive from Stornoway, but rewards the journey with some of the quietest beaches on Lewis and easy access to walking routes into the surrounding hills and along the coast.
