Brooke’s Gym is unsafe, exclusionary, and deeply misogynistic. Female members are pressured by creepy male personal trainers to be “nicer” in exchange for after-hours access—a clear and quite disgusting misogynistic abuse of power. When I (a woman), spoke up through official channels, my membership was cancelled immediately. There was no opportunity to appeal or explain the treatment I experienced. Comes across as silencing whistleblowers. Broken equipment is never fixed, and lighter weights (essential for women, beginners, and disabled members) are never replaced. To make it worse, an external male rugby team regularly takes over the Harcourt gym floor, leaving no space or support for other members—especially women, who are already made to feel unwelcome. Dirty facilities, constantly failing access cards, dangerous machines, and a culture that silences complaints. Brookes Gym doesn’t just need new equipment. It needs a complete overhaul in culture and leadership. Until then, it is not a safe or inclusive space.

I have been there only a couple of times, once to sit an exam and in another occasion, to use the climbing wall. It's a decent sports centre.

Very good clean indoor sports hall. I usually come here in the mornings to play some badminton. It’s nice and cheap. £10 per court and the court can cater up to 4 players. However renting the rackets and shuttles can be expensive so if you play badminton I recommend investing in your own gear. Going early in the morning is the best thing to do as there isn’t much people and no one else is using the court either.

Pretty good gym, basic gym, although never any soap in the women’s bathroom. I’ve reported this many times and it never gets filled up!
