Hop Farm Camping and Touring Park

Very disappointing experience. At check-in, Sue and Kavanagh failed to provide basic information about the campsite. We were not given a map or properly directed to our pitch, which we ended up camping in the wrong area. To make matters worse, a security vehicle also directed us incorrectly. When we returned to reception to explain the situation, we remained calm and respectful, but were met with an aggressive and hostile attitude. Instead of listening or taking responsibility, Sue and Kavanagh became defensive, blamed us and shouted on us, and eventually told us to leave the reception. We were also told that they had no responsibility towards us and that the security vehicle was “nothing to do with them,” which was both unprofessional and unacceptable. The campsite itself is poorly organised and badly maintained. There is very little clear signage throughout the site, making it unnecessarily difficult to find basic facilities. We constantly had to search for the toilets because there were almost no signs indicating where anything was located. The facilities were equally disappointing. There were no proper sinks available for washing dishes, and the toilet facilities were inconveniently located and difficult to access from many parts of the campsite. What upset us most was not the mistake itself, but the way we were treated. We felt unwelcome and dismissed, and the level of respect shown to us was far below what any paying guest should expect. The Hop Farm itself is no more, used to have some good days here with little un! BUT, the campsite definitely is. A VERY large site, but not crowded in anyway due to its size. Some properly marked electric pitches, with water on the hookups, but the vast majority of the site is just open fields and go where you want! Lots of different areas to choose from. By the river, with access for canoe, kayak and paddle boards etc. There was a Camping and Caravanning Club Rally there whilst we were there, but didn't make it feel any busier, just had a different view! Two facility blocks, that didn't seem to be particularly busy, not sure if they would cope if the was ever full though. Not a bad price for where it is, with plenty more charging a lot more(and some charging less). Found it quite at night and overall a pleasant stay for a couple of nights over the Mayday bank holiday weekend.

Fantastic space with loads of room to choose from. Unfortunately it was Bank Holiday weekend & toilets only cleaned once a day by look of it. By noon they definitely needed another clean. Mosquitoes were a problem near the river but there were plenty of alternatives.

We had one of the worst customer service experiences we have ever encountered at The Hop Farm Campsite. Upon arrival, there was no clear signage directing guests to reception. We were approached by a man in a van who instructed us to go to a particular area. Following those instructions, our family of six unloaded all of our belongings, set up our camping area, and settled in for around 30 minutes. Only later, when we went looking for the toilet facilities, were we abruptly informed that we were not supposed to be camping there at all. Instead of acknowledging the lack of signage and the fact that we had been directed to that location by a member of staff, the staff members became extremely aggressive and confrontational. The female staff member in particular shouted at us in an unacceptable manner. Her tone was hostile, intimidating, and completely inappropriate for anyone working in hospitality. We were treated as though we had intentionally done something wrong, when in reality we had simply followed the instructions we had been given. The entire interaction was humiliating and deeply upsetting. I was so distressed by the way we were spoken to that I experienced a panic attack. As paying customers, we expected at least a basic level of courtesy, professionalism, and respect. Instead, we were met with hostility, a complete lack of empathy, and behaviour that made us feel unwelcome and discriminated against. We have visited many campsites over the years and have never experienced anything remotely similar. Mistakes can happen, especially when directions are unclear, but there is absolutely no excuse for staff shouting at guests and treating them with such disrespect. This experience completely ruined the start of our stay and has left a very negative impression of The Hop Farm. We strongly urge management to investigate the conduct of the staff involved, improve site signage, and provide proper customer service training. No family should be treated the way we were.
