The Grove of Narberth sits in open countryside at Molleston, a couple of miles south of Narberth and roughly twenty minutes from the south Pembrokeshire coast. The core of the property is a Georgian and Jacobean house, extended over the years with converted outbuildings and a group of self-contained cottages in the grounds. It holds five-star status and has picked up a run of national awards, including Independent Hotel of the Year in 2024.
Rooms are spread between the main house, the Jacobean Longhouse, the coach house and the cottages, so the range is wide: compact classic doubles at one end, suites with sitting areas, roll-top baths and garden access at the other. The decoration follows a Welsh country house theme handled with a modern touch, with local textiles, antique pieces and contemporary bathrooms. Cottages suit families or two couples travelling together and come with their own kitchens and sitting rooms.
Food is central to the operation. The Fernery holds four AA Rosettes and runs a tasting menu built largely on produce from the hotel's own kitchen garden and from Pembrokeshire growers and fishermen. The Artisan Brasserie is the less formal option, open through the day for lunch and lighter dinners. Afternoon tea is served in the drawing rooms or on the terrace when the weather allows. Twenty-six acres of gardens, meadow and woodland surround the house, with walking paths, a wild flower meadow and views towards the Preseli Hills.
It suits couples wanting a quiet, comfortable base for exploring Pembrokeshire, and anyone treating dinner as the main event of the stay. Narberth's shops and galleries are a short drive away, and Tenby, Saundersfoot and the beaches at Barafundle and Freshwater West are all within reach for day trips. An absolute gem of a place. Welcoming staff, beautiful buildings and rooms, and amazing food. Everything makes you feel both completely at home and wonderfully looked after. This was our first time visiting with our dogs, and the setup is fantastic. Having a beautiful conservatory space adjoining the room and specific areas in the dining room was perfect for us. They’ve managed to create an environment that is incredibly welcoming to pets while keeping the overall experience seamless and elegant for everyone.

We had a beautiful stay at The Grove. Our room was gorgeous, really spacious and comfortable and the toiletries in the bathroom room smelled amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive. We ate in the Fernery which was mind-blowingly good. We have been to similar restaurants in the past and felt like you had to whisper, this restaurant felt more relaxed and welcoming. Shout out to Kathryn who was extremely knowledgeable but also so friendly and helpful. We can't wait to return

A superb countryside retreat. Nestled in the hills, this beautifully restored old property combines classic elegance with modern comfort. The Grove of Narbeth has a quiet sophistication, offering a refined atmosphere, attentive service, and the kind of peaceful charm that makes a rural stay feel truly special. Food was magnificent.

We enjoyed a super relaxing stay. Outside: The photogenic hotel has extensive grounds, 20+ acres, a small lake, a delightful walled garden. The road to/past the hotel is well removed from bedrooms and causes no disturbance. Inside: our room was spacious and comfortable. There are two guest lounges. Rooms may be in the main building, our a nearby cottage, your choice when booking. Dining: there are two restaurants, reviewed separately, the Artisan which is good, and the Fernery which is exceptional. Breakfast, included in the room rate, offers a good choice and continues until mid morning.
