About Peel House Farm

Tucked into peaceful East Sussex farmland between Polegate and Hailsham, Peel House Farm is a compact, family-run site that punches above its weight for accessibility and scenery. A short gravel path connects you to both towns within minutes by bike, and Polegate's railway station makes this genuinely doable without a car. Even closer is the Cuckoo Trail – a 14-mile traffic-free route perfect for gentle pedalling through the countryside – reached via a public footpath from the site itself.

You're also ideally placed between the South Downs National Park and the High Weald, with Eastbourne, Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters all within a few miles for coastal drama. Back on site, there's a small play area and recreation field to keep kids entertained, plus a heated washblock with family cubicles and baby-changing. The covered washing-up area has hot water, and barbecues are welcome if you fancy cooking al fresco. Some visitors note the facilities can feel a touch tired in places, but the location and quiet, rural setting more than compensate.

We went here in august when i booked up the owner said she only had a classic static caravan which i said would be ok as long as it was clean she assured me it would be cleaned When we got there she showed us in and put a new piece of netting up as the other piece was torn she said someone had been in to see to the boiler so the side of the bath was hanging off once she had gone i had a proper look round IT HAD NOT been cleaned the oven was in a terrible state, there was a mouldy orange in the fridge you couldnt use the fire it was capped off . If my family hadnt been coming in their motor home we would have left and asked for a refund I cleaned all the cupboards out all the cutlery and all the crockery also the bathroom we had taken our own bedding which i was very pleased about . The floor was giving way in the bedroom and by the time we were leaving the toilet was sinking through the floor i did tell her it was leaking when we left we were only there 3 nights and that was enough .the area is lovely and we did have some good rides on the cuckow trail If you are thinking of staying there and she offers you the(CLASSIC)static caravan DO NOT TAKE IT it is not fit for purpose

We stayed for 2 nights with our camper van. Nice location, great hosts and good shower and toilets. The day of departement our van got stuck in the mud, due to heavy rainfall at night. The own small tractor was too light, the big boy tractor from neighbour Jack towed us out! We had a laugh, a coffee in the sun. When possible, we will be back Marcus!

We arrived on Friday afternoon in our motorhome, we have a 2 night stay as a base to meet up with some friends. There was a very friendly greeting from the owners, the facilities were pointed out. Chemical drain, shower and toilet block along with dish washing area. All extremely clean and functional. Located just north of Eastbourne, it does in our opinion offer a great base for local trips. Even a taxi from Hailsham only cost £7 after dining out in the town. There is also a regular bus service from outside the entrance either to Hailsam or Eastbourne. The ground is generally level, there are some hook up points ( We had to buy an electric card for 2 days at cost of £10- not unreasonable with high energy prices) and also drinking water points.( bring your own hosepipe for filling up. Unlike some big immaculately manecured sites, this is a welcome return to rural camping. That's not to say its scruffy, it certainly isn't, but there is an air of calm that is hard to replicate and we both had one of the best nights of sleep for ages. We will definitely be returning.

We camped in Peel House Farm over the weekend and really enjoyed it. The hosts were very welcoming and instantly made us feel at home by showing us around the very well kept campsite. It has a peaceful feel about it, and after a full day of walking was great to relax in. The facilities are brilliant and not too far away. I would definitely recommend for backpackers as it's not far from the South Downs Trail and is close to nearby towns for an evening out if you wish.
