The Lodge

Powys

Photo: Google Maps

The Lodge sits on a quiet smallholding near Presteigne, a medieval market town straddling the Welsh-English border. Open countryside spreads across the surrounding fields where horses and sheep graze; the property itself has an enclosed garden with decked seating where you'll see birds and wildlife passing through. The nearest shops and pubs are within walking distance, and Presteigne's 14th-century buildings and the Judge's Lodgings are close by. Beyond that, the borderlands offer castles at Croft, Kinnersley and Stokesay, Acton Scott Working Farm, and Hereford's cathedral and cider museum within reach for a day out.

This detached property sleeps four across two bedrooms: a king in one, two singles in the other. The ground floor is open-plan, with a living area (Freeview TV and DVD player), a separate dining space, and a kitchen equipped for proper cooking. There's an ensuite toilet, a shower room with heated towel rail, and a cubicle shower. Electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are included.

The garden is fenced and lawned with furniture and a decked area for sitting out. One pet stays free, though it must be kept on a lead in this sheep country; kennels are available by request. There's an unfenced pond 15 yards from the house, bike storage, and parking for two cars. No smoking inside.
