Saltburn-by-the-Sea sits on a coastline dotted with places worth the trip: Staithes for its steep cobbled village, Runswick Bay for sand and cliffs, and Whitby for its working harbour and literary history. All are within driving distance, and beaches are walkable from Bannister Cottage itself. The high street has cafés, pubs and independent shops close by.
This Victorian-era cottage sleeps four across two bedrooms—a double and a twin—with one bathroom. Downstairs, you'll find a living room with a fireplace, a separate dining room, and a kitchen equipped for cooking proper meals rather than holiday basics: there's a gas hob, dishwasher, fridge-freezer and microwave. A utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer suits longer stays. Essentials like electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included. One well-behaved pet stays free. The property is yours alone, with on-road parking outside and a lockable shed for bikes or outdoor kit. A small enclosed yard offers a place to sit outside.
No smoking indoors. There are six steps to the entrance, and a games room upstairs under the eaves—stocked with board games, jigsaws and books for quieter evenings in.

Could do with a bit of an update and decorating. But clean enough. Editing this after 2 nights stay. Left early. In desperate need of a complete update. Mostly clean until you look hard. Not worth the money.

Nice cottage for a base. Bedrooms ok. Washing machine and dryer in situ as is fridge / freezer and cooker. Clean. Downside is parking and steps leading up to front door so not suitable for disabled people if steps are an issue. I have given it 3 stars as its was clean and tidy. Bottle of wine was left for us by the owner on arrival, nice touch. TV played up a bit but owner popped round and fixed it. On the whole it was ok for what we wanted maybe a little basic for some and a bit far out for chinese or indian delivery and or restaurants to eat. Big co op that is well stocked.
