Runswick Bay, Staithes and Saltburn are all within reach of Fisherman's Cottage, a converted village home in Loftus near the North York Moors. The coast itself—known for fossil hunting—sits just two miles away. Whitby's historic harbour and cliffs are a short drive further along.

The cottage has three bedrooms (a king, a three-quarter double and a bunk room), one bathroom with a shower over the corner bath, and a kitchen with an oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. Downstairs, an open-plan living and dining space looks onto a small rear garden with seating. Wi-Fi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are included. One dog can stay free. The property is yours alone, with parking on site, and smoking is not permitted.

A stream runs past the front door. The renovation was completed in 2022. A travel cot and highchair are available, making the space workable for younger children.

Had a wonderful couple days at “Old Jacks” cottage . Only wish we could have stayed longer. Everything was as expected and communication before and during the trip was excellent. We will certainly be back for a second stay later in the year.

A lovely quaint cottage, only minutes from the town, pubs, etc. A big bonus is that you can park outside, most of the village has no parking and you have to park a long way away up a steep hill.

Had a lovely stay at Old Jacks Cottage. We stopped off in Staithes for a few days en route to London from Scotland. Old Jack's Cottage really is an authentic fisherman's cottage, with exposed beams, quirky decor and real fires. Great views and easy walk to the shore – and all the quaint shops and pubs in Staithes. Run by nice people, you'll feel right at home. Highly recommended. 👍

Lovely cottages right in the centre of Staithes. Has to be 5 star because you get to stay in Old Jack's Cottage - my just turned 5 year old couldn't believe he was house sitting for Old Jack. Magical experience, plus very comfortable and well appointed.
