Riverside park in the heart of Reeth village, Swaledale, nine miles from Richmond
About Orchard Caravan Park
Orchard Caravan Park occupies a peaceful riverside spot at the edge of Reeth village, nine miles west of Richmond in upper Swaledale. This small, family-run site takes touring caravans, motorhomes and campervans – but not large family tents – and sits close enough to Reeth's village green, pubs and tearooms that guests can walk in for supplies and meals rather than feeling marooned in open countryside.
Facilities are straightforward rather than elaborate: clean shower blocks, free hairdryers and electric hook-ups on touring pitches. The riverside setting and proximity to the Coast to Coast path make it a natural base for walkers tackling the surrounding fells, and dogs are welcome throughout. While some visitors note that parts of the site can feel a little tired, the consistently high ratings reflect friendly, reliable management and a genuinely useful location.
Reeth's village stores and butcher are just a short walk away, and the park makes a practical, low-key starting point for exploring upper Swaledale towards Muker and Keld or heading back down the dale into Richmond.

What visitors say
Lovely grass campsite situated in an orchard on the southern edge of Reeth. Decent sized pitches. Quiet apart from the bird song which is awesome - Merlin App counted 37 birds within a 2 mile radius of the campsite. Touring caravans accepted along with walk-in tents. Also has a glamping pod and a few static caravans for hire. 6 amp electric supply, clean showers that take a 20 pence piece which gives you a around 3 minute shower, Plentiful hot water and a decent well maintained shower and toilet block. A disabled/accessible toilet/shower room is coming online later in the year. There are 3 pubs in the village - all do food. The hotel does a themed eat in/takeout menu on a Thursday. The village also had an icecream parlour, a couple of general stores/gift shops, PO, weekly market on a Friday and the Friday evening Fish and Chip van, plus Reeth Bakery, the Two Dales Bakery (best to order bread in advance, closed Sun & Mon) which also has a cafe. The Copper Kettle and nearby Dales Bikes Cakery are also fantastic cafes. Further afield is Grinton Books, a fantastic little second hand bookshop.

Lovely little campsite in Reeth and very reasonably priced. This was our maiden trip in our new motorhome. Ian, the site owner, was excellent at guiding me into the pitch – very friendly and helpful. The showers are coin-operated, but 20p for 3 minutes was more than enough for us. Heading into one of the village pubs in the evening is a treat, especially with the downhill walk back! Beautiful riverside walks too. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning.
