About The Castle House
The Castle House sits on Castle Hill, a minute's walk from Richmond's Market Place and directly beneath the walls of the castle itself. The Georgian townhouse has been renovated as a boutique bed and breakfast, with rooms furnished with four-poster beds, roll-top baths and open fireplaces alongside Egyptian cotton linens and locally sourced toiletries.
Breakfast is cooked to order each morning using local produce and served in a dining room that looks out towards the castle, a fitting start to a day spent exploring the town. The house's small scale keeps the atmosphere personal, with hosts on hand for recommendations on walks, pubs and the wider Dales.
Its Castle Hill position is as central as Richmond accommodation gets, putting the Market Place, the Georgian Theatre Royal and the town's shops within a few minutes on foot, while the castle grounds themselves are effectively on the doorstep. It suits couples looking for a romantic, adults-focused stay in the heart of the old town.

We had the most magical New Year celebration at Castle Hill House — truly one of those places that stays in your heart. We were a big group (14 adults and 9 children), and the house accommodated us beautifully. There was so much space for everyone to feel comfortable, relax, play, cook, celebrate and simply be together. It never felt crowded — on the contrary, the house felt warm, welcoming and perfectly designed for large gatherings. And the cherry on top — the peacocks roaming around the grounds! They added a touch of magic and fairy-tale charm that delighted both the children and the adults. It felt like living inside a storybook. We couldn’t have imagined a better place to celebrate such an important moment together. Thank you, Castle Hill House, for giving us such a beautiful start to the New Year — we will treasure these memories forever. 💫

Brilliantly spacious, well equip house in a great location and team. Lisa was our contact for the booking during the August bank holiday and everything went without a hitch. Our terms, check in details and any requests were managed well and effortlessly. The house itself is enormous and fantastic for large groups. We had a family reunion here and filled the house with joy and laughter. The kitchen was very well equip and had appliances and tools for every scenario. There were multiple fridges to fit the food and drinks and have a bathroom in nearly every room ensure everyone had privacy and was quick to get ready for the family games. We loved it and may even be back!

We had a great weekend at Castle Hill House, celebrating my 30th birthday with family and friends. There were 15 of us staying at the property which meant there were plenty of beds, bathrooms and overall space for us. We loved the kitchen and lounge areas, and the garden area was perfect for a BBQ! The castle backdrop gave a beautiful background and setting. There was also plenty of parking, easily fitting our 6 cars and space for more. I would highly recommend a stay at Castle Hill House!
