About Travelodge Rugeley

Each of the 32 rooms at Travelodge Rugeley keeps things simple: an en-suite bathroom, a flat-screen television and space to unpack without fuss, spread across two floors of a no-frills budget hotel. Drinks are available in the room, and accessible rooms can be requested for those who need them.

There's no restaurant on site, but a pub, bar and eatery can all be found nearby, so guests aren't short of options when it comes to a meal. Reception operates around the clock, an electric vehicle charge point is available, and pets are welcome, making this a practical stop for a range of travellers. Free on-site parking is provided in front of the hotel, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The hotel sits on the B5013 in Rugeley, Staffordshire, within reach of Cannock Chase, making it a fair base for exploring the surrounding countryside or breaking up a longer journey. It suits those after a straightforward, affordable place to sleep rather than a destination in itself.

I try not to be overly negative in reviews so I'll look at the positives here. The location was in Central Rugeley close to the amenities so that's a plus. I was given a disabled room so it was a bit bigger than most although it did have a powerful odour that I hoped might not have been urine? It was also right next to the front door which banged and beeped loudly from half 5 in the morning as everyone left so at least that made sure I was awake and ready for my meeting later that day. It was half the price of the premier in though (the only other hotel in town) so it was at least good value.

I've stayed here a ton of times and have never had any bad experiences. The staff are brilliant and will go out of their way to cater to any needs or requests. The proximity to town is brilliant too. Got tons of choice for food and drink. Would highly recommend and will undoubtedly be returning quite a bit!

Location was ideal for us near Cannock chase. Room was the generous size & had the facilities we were expecting. As an ex-housekeeper I wasn’t impressed with the cleanliness however. Dead flies and bugs on our sons bed by the window - clearly weren’t fresh sheets. Our bed had been made up with the sheets the wrong way around. Bathroom had pee & cleaning product around the base of the toilet. Bins were dirty under the bags / around the outside. All things that matter when your toddler touches everything!! Bathroom in general was a bit on the shabby side / didn’t feel very fresh. We’d still stay again for convenience but didn’t feel the price reflected the standard of cleaning provided.

Hotel is quite dated. There is a very strong damp/musty smell throughout the hotel, so much so that we had to sleep with the window open and the heating on. Difficult to contend with the smell as two of us have Asthma. Booked a room for four but only beds for three made up when we arrived. The car park is riddled with quite deep potholes.
