Hay and Hedgerow Glamping

Shropshire

Couples looking for a rural retreat will find Hay and Hedgerow Glamping a genuine alternative to standard accommodation. This locally-built shepherd's hut sits on a working sheep farm in the rolling Shropshire countryside between Bridgnorth and Ironbridge, surrounded by fields and footpaths rather than other properties. The hut sleeps two and is yours alone for the stay, with private parking and a garden with patio seating outside.

Inside, the open-plan space combines living, dining and kitchen areas under one oak-clad roof. There's a wood-effect electric heater for cooler evenings, a kitchen with induction hob and combined microwave-oven for self-catering, and a double bedroom at one end. The shower room has a heated towel rail and electric shower. Essentials like bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are provided, along with electricity throughout. A stable-style split door opens onto the garden—useful for watching the farm animals without fully stepping outside.

The location works well for walkers: footpaths cross the farm itself, and the Severn, the Wrekin, and routes around Ludlow and Shrewsbury are all within reach. Bridgnorth is five minutes by car, with National Trust properties including Attingham Park and Dudmaston Hall nearby. The farm setting means no smoking indoors.

We stayed for two nights last weekend at Hay and Hedgerow's shepherd's hut, and what a tremendously enjoyable experience it was! Firstly, the location is absolutely wonderful, being very rural but also a stone's throw from Bridgnorth. It is a working sheep farm accessed down a sloping hill, so the geography alone adds to the cosy feeling of seclusion. The shepherd's hut is located a short distance from the main house, but a tall fence and gate enclose the former, which, combined with windows facing only fields, grazing sheep, and a pair of guineafowl, make the experience feel utterly private. Secondly, the shepherd's hut itself is phenomenal! No corner has been left untouched by the owner in ensuring that guests are afforded every amenity that they could wish to have. A microwave / combi-oven are present, as well as a coffee maker (with ample pods of different types included), toaster, fast-boiling kettle, a small fridge, washing up liquid, tea towels, mugs, glasses, cutlery, and various cooking utensils. A charming and very heat-giving electric fire also ensures that you will not want for warmth. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, the television provided entertainment in the evening, the fairy lights inside and outside added to a lovely atmosphere, and the personalised decoration for the shepherd's hut was all expertly done. There is an en suite as part of the hut, with a lovely looking shower, as well as a toilet, sink, and heated towel rail, all of which were spotless and in perfect working order. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, and hand lotion were also provided. Outside the hut, there is a cosy swing seat for two, cushions provided within the hut, as well as a table and chairs, with the addition of a barbecue. There were also two lovely plants arrangements in pots, as well as a large bin to dispose of rubbish. One additional point that is well worth mentioning is the adjoining field which guests are welcome to stretch their legs in. We had a very enjoyable time on Saturday simply going for a walk around the field, which is hilly and offers a decent walk, surrounded by curious sheep, and watching the swifts (or swallows?) diving close to the surface of a body of water in the middle of the field. It was a really enjoyable stay, and at such a great price to boot! Whether you intend to use it as a base camp for day travels, or if instead you want to spend time relaxing inside the shepherd's hut for a few days, then I highly recommend this as one of the best glamping sites in Shropshire.

What a beautiful place in the middle of nowhere. Lovely romantic setting for couples, the view what fantastic and the hut itself had everything you need. Melissa has really thought of everything and all the little touches that have been added really made our stay that little bit more special. Didn’t want to go home and would definitely return. Thank you!!

Another fantastic stay at this beautiful Shepherds Hut. Melissa and Aidan and family are very friendly nothing too much trouble. And the lovely Meg the retired sheep dog sometimes comes to say hello, she is gorgeous. Can't fault anything about this little piece of heaven on earth. This was our 3rd stay hoping to be back soon.
