The Pump House

South Gloucestershire

View on Google Maps

The Pump House sits in Hawkesbury Upton, a village with a shop, post office and two pubs within the immediate area. The Cotswold Way footpath is half a mile away, making this a practical base for exploring the region on foot or by bike. By car, you're positioned between several significant draws: Bath with its Georgian architecture and thermal spa lies about 20 miles south; Bristol's Suspension Bridge and SS Great Britain are similarly accessible; Tetbury's historic high street and Wotton-under-Edge's market square are closer still, around 10 miles off. Westonbirt Arboretum, Dyrham Park and Chavenage House (filmed for television) are all within reach for a day out.

The detached house sleeps eight across four bedrooms: two with double beds (one with its own shower room and toilet), and two with pairs of single beds. There's a family bathroom with bath and shower, plus a ground-floor shower room. The kitchen comes equipped for proper cooking—electric oven, dishwasher, microwave—and adjoins the dining and living areas. Washing machine, tumble dryer and utility room make longer stays practical. The property includes electricity, bed linen and towels; gas central heating warms the place through colder months. Outside, a paddock-style garden has furniture, a barbecue and bike storage; there's parking on site for multiple cars.

One dog is welcome to stay. The house is non-smoking. Ground-floor access and the range of bed configurations suit families with younger children or mixed groups, though the setup works equally well for adults seeking a country base with easy onward travel.
