What visitors say
A very nice little museum with a good variety of stuff to check out! Butterfly area was lovely. There was a bee hive part & lots of animals (ie pinned bugs, taxidermy animals) to see with good amounts of info to read about them. Dinosaur & geological realted information as well, etc. So there's plenty to see for people with slightly different interests! Also a very nice little gift shop! I got a bee teddy & am very happy 😆🎉

Loved it! Didn’t have enough time on the day, so could only see the butterflies, but they were so cute that I didn’t mind I couldn’t check anything else after. It’s also free for residents, but you can certainly help out with donations.

The butterfly house is wonderful. Lots of exotic species from North and South America. Nice to see local exhibits but they could use a refresh. The collection on the ground floor is interesting but more focus on the collectors would make it really shine.

A great museum with a lot of potential. I visited as part of a university assignment and was really impressed. The Butterfly House is a standout, with lots of different butterfly species flying around, and the live bee which is interesting to see up close. The staff are friendly and helpful, and there’s a small museum store with some unique items. Entry is free for Portsmouth residents, which is a nice bonus. Would be great to see this place get more funding so it can keep developing.
