About Driftwood Spars

Trevaunce Cove puts you straight onto one of Cornwall's most dramatic stretches of coastline, with the South West Coast Path leading out in both directions and sandy beaches close by for surfing, swimming or simply walking off breakfast. Golf and fishing are also within reach, and St Agnes itself has enough pubs, restaurants and diversions to fill a few days without needing a car.

Driftwood Spars is a pub with rooms rather than a formal hotel, and that shows in the atmosphere: the bar is the heart of the place, serving a wide range of local beers and ciders alongside a menu that runs from Sunday roasts to proper fish and chips, all at fair prices. There are 18 en-suite rooms, breakfast included, and staff who keep the mood friendly and the service attentive. It's worth knowing that some rooms show their age and could do with more upkeep, so this suits guests who want character and a good pub over polished, hotel-standard finishes.

Practical extras include free WiFi, 24-hour reception, luggage storage, an electric vehicle charge point and kids' meals, making it a workable base for families as well as walkers. With the coast path on the doorstep and the bar downstairs, most evenings end up being spent exactly where you'd want them to.

The good parts: This is an exceptional location in Cornwall and the hotel makes it easy with excellent parking, well organised on arrival with your number plate on a reserved spot. We had an evening meal and the food was very nice, however IMO it was extremely expensive for what it was, so be prepared for that. There are other places locally to eat, so well worth looking around. The staff are pleasant and try their absolute best for you. The not so good are the rooms. Our original room was ok, however the shower broke on first use and after some attempt to fix, eventually I had to move rooms late on into the evening. The original room had a terrible mattress and was overdue an upgrade. The new room was a horrible location next to a small micro brewery that made loads of noise when it opened in the morning. The room was tired and the mattress slightly better than first room, but honestly needed replacing. The bathroom wasn't very clean, dirty tiles and cobwebs everywhere. Generally, everything needed a good clean and update. Breakfast, again the food was very nice, although had to ask for just about everything to be replaced, i.e. fruit, juice, cutlery etc... Also dirty tea cups, by which time couldn't be bothered to ask to be replaced. Loved the day by the beach and would return to visit St Agnes, but wouldn't go back to Driftwood Spars.

Cosy proper pub with cask ales and you get free parking if you ask for voucher and park in car park closest to them. I had catch of the day and it was fantastic, my husband had the seafood linguine and really enjoyed this. Good zero options too. Friendly service, and walking distance to the beautiful cove. Highly recommend. We didn’t stay over so can’t comment on rooms.

Writing Absolutely delicious! I only remembered to take a photo once the cheese board was empty, which says it all! 😄 The board was beautifully presented with a generous selection of four delicious local Cornish cheeses, accompanied by lovely accompaniments. Every bite was fantastic, and I would highly recommend it to any cheese lover. We'll definitely be back!

We had our wedding at Driftwood Spars and wow — what a fantastic venue! Nestled in Trevaunance Cove in the beautiful village of St Agnes, Driftwood Spars is a stunning pub, restaurant, hotel, and wedding venue all in one. It’s the perfect size for an intimate wedding, comfortably accommodating between 50 and 100 guests. We had originally hoped to hold our ceremony in the beautiful cliffside garden, but unfortunately the weather had other plans. However, the wedding coordinators, Meg and Anna, were absolutely incredible. They transformed the Seaview Bistro into a gorgeous ceremony space and then quickly turned it around for the wedding breakfast seamlessly. The food was outstanding from start to finish — from the canapés to the three-course meal and evening buffet. Tom, the head chef, was extremely accommodating to our needs and absolutely smashed it. The whole day was everything we dreamed of and more, and that was entirely down to the amazing staff. Liam, the duty manager, was always so helpful, and every member of staff went above and beyond to make the day special. Our guests have all commented on how friendly, welcoming, and attentive everyone was. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better wedding venue or team to celebrate our special day with.”

Diners like this pub's delicious and well-presented food, including Sunday roasts and fish and chips, and appreciate the wide selection of local beers and ciders. They also highlight the warm, welcoming atmosphere, the friendly and attentive staff, and the excellent value for money.

Some reviews mention the rooms can be neglected.
