The Old Vicarage is a four-bedroom house in the village of Stowe-by-Chartley, near Stafford. It sleeps up to 8 guests across kingsize, double and single beds, with two bathrooms. One dog stays free, and there is private parking for four cars on site.
The layout spreads across two floors. Downstairs holds two separate living areas, each with a woodburner and television, plus a kitchen with a Rayburn cooker, dishwasher and microwave-grill combination. A utility room with washing machine and separate toilet means practical tasks don't interrupt the main spaces. The sun room overlooks a lawned garden with patio and seating. Upstairs, the four bedrooms include two with en-suite facilities; the main bathroom has a bath with shower and heated towel rail. Gas central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are all included, along with initial firewood for the burners.
The village sits within easy reach of Stafford and Uttoxeter, and close to the Trent and Mersey Canal. Guests can use the bike store for exploring the surrounding countryside and the edges of the Peak District National Park. The property is non-smoking.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Old Vicarage in Stowe-by-Chartley. The property is beautifully maintained, spacious, and perfectly equipped for a relaxing getaway. The house comfortably accommodates larger groups, with generous living areas and well-appointed bedrooms that made our stay incredibly comfortable. The setting is peaceful and picturesque, surrounded by lovely countryside, making it ideal for walks and unwinding. We especially loved the garden and patio area – perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or evening drinks. Everything we needed was provided, from a fully equipped kitchen to cosy living spaces with wood burners, which really added to the charm. The location is also great for exploring nearby attractions in Staffordshire. Overall, a wonderful place to stay – we would highly recommend it and would happily return again!

This house is an amazing blend of an old house, with some sympathetic modern additions. Very spacious, meticulously clean, very well equipped to be a home away from home for a week. The owners live on site in a separate building, and they really are a sweet couple, my family and I have stayed in many houses for holidays over the years, and this is the first time we have been given a full guided tour and with explanation about how everything works, most places these days there is just an old ring binder with some typed notes giving you a rough idea of how to use things. The house itself is about 1/4 mile from an a road, so really easy to get to, only 1.5 miles from a village with a Chinese takeaway, mini supermarket, fish and chip shops etc, really good links to get to Uttoxeter, Derby, Stafford and Stoke, It was the most amazing base to go and explore, although I could have happily just stayed indoors taking in the beautifully maintained garden and tranquil surroundings. Mrs R is such a treasure, she even got our laundry in and folded it for us when it rained whilst we were out for the day, it is lovely that there are such caring people still. Bedrooms and all fairly large, certainly spacious enough, beds were comfy, bathrooms clean, and all had toilet rolls, toilet cleaner etc, plenty of clean towels, hand soap etc. We did not use the living room or snug at all, because the garden room is so lovely, it was nice to unplug and have family time chit chatting and playing games instead of watching the TV, the garden room was once a conservatory, that now has a proper roof, air conditioning and several very comfy sofas. Small utility room with a fridge, freezer and washing machine. Kitchen has a fantastic Rayburn, Dishwasher and fridge, and acres of space, lots of pots and pans, chopping boards, glassware, plates etc, a cupboard full of salt and pepper, spices and condiments. As we left the house this we all felt really sad, I have never had this before, normally we get to the end of our stay and feel ready to go back to reality, I really would have happily stayed here a long time, and in a couple of years, would love to come back.
