About Achilty Guest House
Rooms at Achilty Guest House come with their own en-suite bathrooms and in-room drinks, a small but welcome touch after a day out in the Highlands. Family rooms and accessible rooms are available, and free WiFi runs throughout, so the practical side of a stay here is well covered. Free on-site parking makes arriving with a car straightforward, and pets are welcome too.
Beyond the bedroom, guests get a garden and outdoor seating area for warmer days, a picnic area, and a games room for evenings in. Breakfast is served to start the day, and the guest house runs a 24 hour reception, laundry service and luggage storage, along with business services for anyone mixing work with a Highland break.
The setting near Loch Achilty puts walking, cycling, fishing and watersports within easy reach, while Strathpeffer itself offers pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby, including the Strathpeffer Pavilion. It's a straightforward, well-equipped base for exploring this part of the Highlands rather than a destination in itself.
What guests say
This is by far one of the best guesthouses I have stayed in Scotland. The room was spacious, clean, and very well appointed, with exceptionally comfortable bedding. The restaurant was excellent, and the breakfast was generous with plenty of choice. I was also given access to additional facilities, which made the stay even more convenient. The whole establishment feels very warm and welcoming, with a genuinely cosy atmosphere. What stood out most to me, however, was the hospitality. Mwamba is an incredibly kind and welcoming host, always attentive and full of helpful advice. It was a real pleasure meeting someone so genuinely generous—it truly made the stay memorable. I would highly recommend this guesthouse. It offers unbeatable value for money and is ideally located if you plan to explore the highlands. Thank you for everything, Mwamba.

Be aware this property will not let you in after 8pm. We had flat tyre during our NC500 trip we were delayed by 2 hours and ended up having nowhere to sleep with a child. Having to go through difficulties with car and this spoiled our whole holiday experience.

The guesthouse is located on a busy road and is very noisy! The breakfast was £10 per person per night and was definitely not worth that! The room in general (dust, litter, towels and bed linen) did not seem very clean and the furniture was very worn! When the receptionist was confronted with this excuses were made that this was high season, which it may very well be, however, you should still get what you pay for - which is at least a clean room. We don't understand how the good reviews came up! Upon arrival we considered to leave and find another accommodation. Definitely not recommended! We were glad to leave!

We were greeted warmly by our host. The guesthouse is a good location if you want to get outside of Inverness before breaking for the night in the Highlands; there's a little market and a great chippy within walking distance. Our room was comfortable, amenities were good and quiet and we found it appropriate for the price. Thank you for a lovely stay!
