Just two rooms above a Cotswolds dining pub on Bell Lane, Stroud, with valley views and a kitchen known for triple-cooked chips.

About The Bell Inn

With only two rooms to its name, The Bell Inn on Bell Lane in Stroud is less a hotel than a proper Cotswolds pub with beds upstairs, and that scale is very much the point. The rooms are cosy rather than grand, comfortably furnished, and look out over the surrounding valley, giving guests a quiet spot to return to after making use of everything downstairs.

That downstairs is where The Bell Inn does most of its work. The restaurant and bar serve gluten-free options alongside a well-regarded plate of triple-cooked chips, backed by a carefully kept selection of beers and wines. Breakfast is included, staff are attentive, and the garden gives extra room to sit outside. The inn also hosts weddings and meetings, and pets are welcome throughout.

Practical extras cover the basics well: free on-site parking, free WiFi, luggage storage and a laundry service. Its Stroud setting puts guests within reach of the wider Gloucestershire countryside, with the valley views from the rooms themselves reason enough to linger a little longer over breakfast.

We had Christmas lunch at the Bell Inn with friends. The restaurant was a very nice space and not too noisy so you could easily chat over lunch. It also has a fabulous view across the valley. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend it.

By far the most friendly pub I have ever been too for both locals and visitors! I feel privileged to have lived opposite for a few months and I'm very happy that it's only 6 minutes drive from where I live now!

Very cosy and well appointed room (Dovecot) breakfast was delicious and the views are typical Cotswold beauty. We loved Maya the ridgeback keeping us company for breakfast 🙂
