About The Clothiers Arms
Stroud's mix of market-town streets and Cotswold countryside makes a fitting backdrop for The Clothiers Arms, a traditional inn on Bath Road. Recent renovations have brightened the place up, giving it a fresh, cosy feel that suits both a quick overnight stop and a longer stay in the area.
Rooms are en-suite and kept clean and comfortable, with free WiFi and drinks available in room. The restaurant and bar are a particular strength, with guests regularly singling out the cooking, including a well-made fish and chips, alongside friendly and welcoming staff, though service can be slow when things get busy. Breakfast is served on site, and there's 24 hour reception, free on-site parking, and pets are welcome.
Outside, there's a walking area close by along with a golf course, plus further pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for anyone wanting to explore beyond the inn itself. It's a straightforward, well-run base for getting to know Stroud and the surrounding Gloucestershire countryside.

Be wary. X3 of our table paid £16 for two dog turds on a stick. Not even a big dog, could only of been a rat sized handbag thing because my corgi craps bigger than that. They were supposed to be lamb kofta. It’s not even as if it was a beautiful tasting delicate meat and the salad could of only been 30p at best - a measly amount of onion and that was it, bar a child’s fistful of leafs that even a snail would be peckish after eating. Whats even more disappointing is I politely complained to the waitress (appreciating it’s nothing to do with her) and we heard absolutely nothing back from the manager, either didn’t have the minerals or the courtesy to say “sorry we didn’t meet your expectations”’ So I’ve given poor stars for their qualification in hospitality

2 nights had dinner here (working away) and both nights have not disappointed I was not expecting food as good as this the game pie was absolutely fantastic and the Guinness is perfect, shame this is 3hour away from my house or this would be my regular absolute top chef and bar staff know how to keep a pint and are friendly!.

Wonderful meal on Saturday evening! The waitress was so lovely and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious (I had the pie of the day which was game), and the effort that has been put into the makeover of the restaurant is fantastic! The Clothiers has definitely gone up in the world!

Had a fabulous two night stay at Clolthiers Arms with my mum and sister. The room was very comfortable and clean. Recent renovations in the bar and dining room had it feeling fresh but cosy and still full of character. Staff were very friendly and we were made to feel very at home when we dined for breakfast and dinner (and the food was delicious!). Highly recommend and would absolutely stay again.
