Arthur House
Thanet
Cliftonville has undergone significant change in recent years, and Arthur House sits within easy reach of both the seafront and Margate's historic centre. Built in 1895 as a seaside residence, the property retains original features—marble fireplaces, decorated plaster ceilings, stained glass—alongside modern comforts added during sensitive restoration. Exposed lime plaster on some walls acknowledges this layered history rather than disguising it.
The ground floor contains three reception rooms with ornate ceilings and four marble fireplaces, a full kitchen with two ovens and two dishwashers opening onto a patio, a second sitting room without television, and a utility room. Five bedrooms are distributed across the first and second floors, each with its own bathroom or shower room; four have king beds and one has two single beds. The property sleeps ten and is yours alone for the duration of your stay. An enclosed walled garden with patio and furniture provides outdoor space. No smoking inside.
The setup suits groups and families needing separate bathrooms and sleeping areas. Cooking facilities allow you to prepare meals together, and the multiple living spaces mean everyone need not be in the same room. Parking is on-road.
