I hadn’t been here in about 15 years, until spontaneously deciding to go for a swim one day. I turned up at around 6pm on a Monday with no one else around at all, and asked for an adult swim. I was immediately told the outdoor pool was fully booked, which I hadn’t even asked for, and that I should have booked my swim. Silly me thought the world was still simple enough that you could turn up at the swimming pool and just…you know….go swimming. The receptionist seemed annoyed that I hadn’t booked, then proceeded to ask if it was just me…I looked around the empty reception area and confirmed that yes, it was just me, just looking to go swimming. I eventually got through the gate. What a faff! Tried again the following week with my 3 year old this time. Again was greeted by a miserable, but different, receptionist who again immediately told me the outdoor pool was fully booked when I hadn’t even mentioned it??? She then proceeded to laugh in my face because I was turning up 40 mins before the pool was being closed for something else. I had called ahead, so was aware of this, I simply wanted half an hour’s swim with my toddler to cool down a bit. Paid the extortionate fee and enjoyed the pool, which is actually quite good and was a nice temp. Shame it takes so much effort getting in. Bring back old times. I have great memories of Tonbridge Pool as a kid, utilising BOTH indoor and outdoor pools during one session. Such a shame this has been changed.

This place is great. The price has gone up recently to about £13.50 per person but for that you get unlimited pool (very warm water compared to most) , wet sauna , dry sauna jacuzzi . Decent snacks and lunches there too. Top tip - use the changing rooms in the sauna area , they don't need a pound coin.

Very unpleasant experience this morning. We entered the main entrance and were followed by two people behind us. I picked up a single-use swimming nappy for our toddler and placed it on the counter. At that point, the receptionist asked me to step aside and allow the two people behind us to go first, saying that “they were first.” Neither my mum nor I understood this, as we had not passed in front of anyone. There was no greeting, no smile, and no courtesy from the start. When it was finally our turn, I tried to clarify politely that we had not cut in line. The receptionist insisted that the other two people had been first, so we chose not to argue. However, I would welcome a review of the security cameras. I then asked for tickets for one toddler and one adult. The card machine displayed £25, which seemed high. I politely asked for clarification, as this was for one adult, one toddler, and one swimming nappy. The receptionist replied that the charge was for two adults. I explained that I was not staying, I was simply helping my mum and toddler get in before leaving. Again 1 adult and 1 toddler only. She responded in a rude and visibly annoyed manner, repeatedly questioning what I would be doing and whether I would be staying to watch. I calmly explained again that I was just assisting them and would then leave. She abruptly took the card machine back to amend the amount. We paid, but again there was no thank you, no smile, and no basic courtesy. This experience has left us feeling very unwelcome and does not encourage us to return. The pool itself is good, and the children’s area is nice and entertaining. However, the water and surrounding areas felt too cold, especially for young children, making it slightly unpleasant. In addition, most of the hair dryers were not working.

My partner and I visit Tonbridge Swimming Pool three times a week and every time we are impressed by how welcoming and helpful the staff are. We regularly use the indoor pool and have even enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool throughout the winter, which has been a real highlight - thank you for keeping this open! The spa area is excellent, with fantastic changing facilities, electronic lockers and a great range of amenities including a jacuzzi, steam room, infrared sauna, traditional sauna, and heated loungers. It truly feels like a luxury experience being a member here, would highly recommend!
