About Sand-le-Mere Caravan and Leisure Park
Sand le Mere Holiday Park near Tunstall offers a family-friendly base with plenty to keep everyone occupied on site. The indoor swimming pool is a real highlight – complete with splash zone, sauna and steam room – while kids can burn off energy in the play area and evening entertainment keeps things lively. Friendly, helpful staff add to the welcoming atmosphere, and there's a decent spread of facilities including a bar, restaurant and takeaway, plus fishing and a well-stocked shop.
Touring pitches range from electric grass to premium hardstanding options, some with ensuite facilities, and dogs are welcome year-round. It's worth noting that some caravans can feel a little tired, and food prices lean towards the higher side. What visitors say
Just got back from an absolutely brilliant stay at Sand Le Mere and had to leave a review. The kids' entertainment was amazing the whole time we were there, but a massive shout-out has to go to Mason. He went completely out of his way to make a big effort with my son and honestly made our holiday so special. My son absolutely loved him, and that kind of effort from the staff really makes all the difference when you're away with family. My only real recommendation for the park would be to move the kids' sports day activity to a Tuesday morning instead. Doing it earlier in the week would let the kids get to know each other right at the start, rather than waiting their last day! Otherwise, everything was great. The outdoor play area for the kids is brilliant, and we spent ages in the swimming pool which was excellent too. As for the adults, the bar is really well stocked and the service was lovely and quick every time we went up. We had such a fab time and will definitely be back. Huge thanks to Mason for making it so brilliant for my boy!

So much to do! Swimming (first come first served) in 1 hour blocks, mini golf (extra charge) arcades, sensory room, activity centre, two parks, kids and adult entertainment etc! We took our 1 year old for 15 minutes in the sensory room whilst we waited for the next available swimming slot - and he loved it!! Perfect for toddlers or older children with SEN. Very friendly staff, from reception to bar staff, entertainers to cleaners. Mentioned to the cleaners about the showers being super hot and she sorted it for us right away! Will be back!

We rented a caravan here. The caravan itself was nice and clean. The kitchen equipment was a joke with 3.pans and a glass casserole dish. We bought a pizza tray and dish so we could cook. The site itself was shameful and needs some care and attention. I've seen much tidier illegal caravan sites. Litter blowing all over the place with overflowing dustbins even though bins nearby had lots of room. Caravans that should have been consigned to a tip years ago still on plots. Can only assume that this is allowed and no restrictions on age of caravans etc given that they were trying to sell 15yr old caravans at laughable prices. Some had old mattresses on the decking just left to rot. Another van with a pile of old toilets outside. A lot of vans appeared empty with lots of empty plots. Overflowing dog poo bins by the gate from the 'Beach' with accompanying smells. Not emptied for a week & remained overflowing. Pile of plastic containers were abandoned by the entry from the beach by the dog poo isore. I can only assume they we're collected by someone from the beach. There was litter along with further plastic containers floating in the sea and on the 'beach'. The beach itself is far from stunning as someone describes, with rubbish on it and floating in the sea. Access to the beach is not easy due to ongoing erosion. Site is near much nicer beaches a short drive or bus journey away with access and no rubbish. They are trying to sell caravans and can't even update signs with correct years for pitch fees.Caravans for sale just dumped on pitches possible to make it look fuller. The clubhouse itself needed refurbishment with some scruffy tables in need of refurbishment and worn seating. Carpet needs a deep clean. Staff couldn't even be bother to replace bulbs over the bars that had blown but not caring is a theme of the place. It looks like at one time there were gardens that were cared for but theses are overgrown and neglected . Absolutly feels that staff and company aren't bothered about this place and are too busy trying to sell vans albeit badly than to look after the site. Certainly wouldn't recommend this site...do yourself a favour and go to the site opposite or a site nearer Withernsea. By far the worst van site we've ever stayed on.

A large Holliday park and a bit too big for us generally, preferring smaller more personal parks. It's definitely popular and very family orientated which is perfect for many. One little complaint is the lack of direct parking outside many caravans, being forced to park away from where your staying on the narrow roads. We have had a great holiday and a perfect few days before we move up to Whitby. Lastly I have to say it's got a brilliant stretch of beach but it's not easy to access so we ended up going to the beach at nearby Withernsea which is well worth a visit and has great fish and chips.
