Saffron Walden sits at the heart of a medieval market town with routes for walking and cycling branching out across the countryside. Goldstones Farm – The Hayloft occupies a converted barn on the edge of an arable farm in Ashdon, a few miles south of town. The conversion was completed in 2020 and comes with its own hot tub, large enclosed garden and patio for entertaining.

The property has five bedrooms and five bathrooms spread across a ground floor and first floor. Downstairs, an open-plan living and dining area features a wood burner, a 65-inch smart TV and patio doors out to the garden. The kitchen has two electric ovens, an induction hob and a dishwasher. Upstairs are four further bedrooms: three kingsize rooms each with ensuite showers, and a fifth room with zip-and-link single beds that can be configured as a double. One additional bathroom serves this upper floor. Underfloor heating runs throughout, and a bluetooth sound system with speakers in each room comes as standard. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and the initial logs for the wood burner are all included; electricity is on the meter. No smoking is permitted inside.

Two pubs serving food lie within easy reach. Audley End House and its gardens sit nearby for a day out exploring the mansion, grounds or Victorian estate life. Coarse fishing is available 600 yards from the property at additional cost.
