About Ffynnonwen Farm Wild Camping

Tucked into the Ceredigion hills a few miles from Aberystwyth, Ffynnonwen Farm Wild Camping offers precisely what its name promises: a relaxed, back-to-basics escape on working farmland. Pitches are non-electric grass and earth plots where campfires are encouraged, composting toilets keep things eco-conscious, and the nearest sounds are likely to be bleating sheep rather than traffic. Walkers and wild-campers appreciate the remote, forested setting—striking scenery unfolds in every direction, with opportunities for kayaking, mountain biking, and coastal exploration all within striking distance.

Facilities are simple but thoughtful: hot showers, wifi, ice-pack freezing, and a communal freezer for longer stays. Dogs roam freely year-round, and the site welcomes DofE groups, motorcyclists, and single-sex parties without fuss. With public transport, a shop, and a farmers' market all nearby, it strikes a comfortable balance between wilderness retreat and practical access—though don't expect luxury; this is genuinely wild camping with a farmer's welcome, not a manicured holiday park.

If you want wild camping this is for you. Out in the middle of nowhere, lovely views, compost loo on site. The farm house has a bathroom with shower. Also lots of farm animals to see, especially Ewan the Ewe, hand reared. They also have home grown produce to purchase. Its not a long drive to the coast or shop for bbq essentials. Great little site. Also Mark and his wife are lovely.

Beautiful wild camping spot. Shower and toilet in main farm building and compost toilet in field. Owners very welcoming and friendly. If you want total peace and quiet with just the sound of birdsong this is the place to stay.

We love this place! Such lovely hosts, tranquil location and really chilled out. Also the most lovely compost toilets I've ever seen! Lots of good beaches and places to explore with plenty of great recommendations from the hosts as well. We can't wait to head back sometime soon 💚🌿

This was a truly refreshing, special camping experience. No frills, pitch where you like and enjoy the beautiful landscape and woolly neighbours. I visited for three nights in early April with my whippets, who were more perplexed by the sheep than the sheep were by them - expect to have to do some shoo-ing! There were firepits, a compost loo and pay-per-use showers if you need them. There is access to well water for washing, and the hosts provide bottles of clean water for cooking and drinking. The hosts themselves are lovely and strike a balance between leaving you to enjoy your time to yourself and telling you about the beautiful rare breed animals and the land itself. This is the perfect experience for those looking to take their camping adventures beyond serviced turf pitches but who aren't quite ready for true wild camping.
