A truly delightful National Trust gem. The moment you arrive, you’re greeted by sweeping countryside views that feel wonderfully restorative. The historic house is beautifully preserved, full of character and quiet charm, and the gardens are a joy to wander through — full of colour, thoughtful planting, and peaceful corners to pause in. The flowered borders were at their best during our visit, buzzing with life. The farm animals were a particular highlight, especially for families, adding a gentle, rural atmosphere that completes the experience. A perfect place to slow down, breathe, and enjoy the best of our heritage and landscape. Just bear in mind, the outside cafe can be extremely busy and be prepared to wait for your food.

Great place to visit, Stunning house and gardens. With some great walks. If your lucky there will be animals in the farmyard. Loads of parking, free for an hour if you fancy I quick walk around the grounds. But you'll have to pay to visit the house.

Absolutely beautiful place a hidden gem! The cafe was our first stop and we were happy to find excellent service and tasty cakes. The views from the cafe onto the gorgeous woodland walk over the bridge were stunning. We went up to the house and had a lovely time exploring, I particularly liked the oval furniture purpose built for thr space upstairs. The grounds didn't disappoint either with so much to look at and things to do. A hidden delight was the collection of vintage farming equipment, staffed by amazing volunteers. We then went back to the cafe for lunch which we thoroughly enjoyed. Beautiful food and friendly staff. Thank you!
