About The White Lion Hotel

The White Lion is one of Aldeburgh's oldest buildings, a former coaching inn dating back centuries and positioned exactly where the High Street meets the sea. Beamed ceilings, panelled walls and open fires give the public areas plenty of period character, while bedrooms have been updated with modern bathrooms and furnishings.

Its bar and restaurant are popular with both guests and locals, serving fresh fish alongside more traditional pub fare, and the position at the foot of the High Street means the shops, cinema and bookshop are all within a few minutes' walk.

For anyone wanting to be right at the centre of things, with the Moot Hall, beach and High Street all on the doorstep, the White Lion is hard to beat for location.

Perfectly situated venue with beautiful decor and excellent amenities, there were even robes in the room. The attention to detail and cleanliness is excellent with super comfy beds. Highly recommended rooms and scrumptious food. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly especially Angel she is fantastic server and an absolute credit to The White Lion she really could not do enough for us. Thank you for an amazing stay.

This was a great place for people with allergies. There was an allergen folder for the food in the pub and even the shortbread jar in the room had a hand-written tag with allergen information (very rare). I believe Kelly is to be thanked for that lovely touch. The room was great too and the breakfast great. I didn't eat there in the evening so I can't comment on that.

Great place to stay, excellent staff who are extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Great food. Bev the Manageress went out of her way to help me with a booking problem which was much appreciated. No jobsworths here just common sense and exactly what you want from a pub with rooms.

Slightly lower mark for the rooms as the decor is a little tired as you might expect in an older building. But if you look past that the facilities provided in the rooms are very good, the service you get from genuinely friendly people is top notch, and the food we had (breakfasts and an evening meal) was all excellent, particularly the chocolate mousse (even if it was possibly more calories than I really needed). And perfectly situated for our 2 days walking the High Weald Landscape Trail. Would go definitely go back.
