About Hafod Y Plas

Hafod Y Plas – 'the centre of the mansion' – is a tiny working farm site on Holy Island, just off Anglesey's west coast via the Four Mile Bridge. The handful of grass pitches occupy a level field where campers can collect fresh eggs, help milk the cows, and let children burn energy on the play equipment before settling down for the evening. Dogs are welcome year-round, and the farm atmosphere makes this a genuine escape rather than a manicured campsite experience.

You're well placed for the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path: join it at the bridge and walk south to the sandy beach at Traeth Llydan, or drive five minutes to Trearddur Bay and explore the rugged western shore past Porth Diana and Porth Castell (both good for watersports) and the natural arch at Bwa Gwyn. Facilities are straightforward – showers, toilets, washing-up area, freezer – and while the site can feel a little basic in places, the 4.7 Google rating suggests most visitors appreciate the peaceful, no-frills charm. Holyhead is ten minutes for supplies.

Small, peaceful campsite in beautiful setting on a working farm. Friendly owner, clean loos and shower. Top tip - book directly rather than via the popular app to get a cheaper rate!

Fairly basic campsite that just about covers the bases. The showers work, but there is only one for men and one for women. Same with the toilet, just the one. Kitchen is small but has fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster. The campsite itself is small - room for about 12-14 tents when we were there, cars parked next to tents. The site is fairly exposed to wind. The road is close enough to be pretty noticeable but calms down late at night. We needed some ear plugs to get a really good night's sleep. There's a decent choice of pubs and cafes and food options nearby. The location is not far from the beach but a longish walk. When we were there the site was quiet in the evening with no late parties and the owners are good folk who live on site and keep an close eye on things. It's a working farm so expect animals, machinery and all the usual.

Very expensive for what it is. We had hardly got on site and we were asked for payment. We'd not even unhitched. We were asked by both owners. It made us feel very uncomfortable, like we weren't trustworthy. We felt like we had to pay before we could even get set-up. The farm dogs were free to roam (and poo/wee everywhere, we picked up three times after them as it wasn't nice to see laying around) on the site and run up to you and bark at you. Very very off-putting. Uneven grass field. Not a pitch. The owners were friendly.
