About Ty'n Cae

Gently floating off the northern Welsh coast, the ancient island of Anglesey serves up a splendid mix of beaches, castles and coastal walks – and Ty'n Cae puts them all within easy reach. This peaceful, family-friendly site sits in the small village of Rhostrehwfa, just minutes from the A5 and A55, making it a handy base for exploring the island's treasures.

The site itself is a laid-back affair set over gently sloping grass and gravel pitches, surrounded by wildlife and greenery. Facilities are straightforward – clean toilets (some composting), hot showers, chemical disposal and recycling – and dogs are welcome year-round, with a dedicated dog park on site. Some visitors note the facilities can feel a little tired in places, but the tranquil setting and warm welcome more than compensate.

Llangefni is a short stroll or five-minute drive away, offering shops, cafés and the lovely Nant y Pandy nature reserve, where a boardwalk winds through wildlife habitats and links to the Lon Las Cefni cycle route. Perfect for families seeking a simple, well-positioned Anglesey escape.

We used the campsite at this location, basic facilities, with 18 pitches, all with EHU available, the fields are on a slight angle, but this did not make much difference to us, because it is exposed, wind can be a problem for big tents. Easy parking next to pitch, within walking distance to the local pub that has a good selection of beers and good food menu's, the site is not far from Llangefni, which has an Asda and a good camping shop opposite, also some nice little walks.

Arrived at this campsite after an 8hr journey with our seven children. We had booked an ‘unlimited sized pitch’ for myself, my husband and children for a campervan and awning. The pitch was under 5m squared and on a slope. We had no room to pitch and could not stay. Still awaiting refund. There is a lovely site down the road that saved our family holiday- I’d recommend going there!

We stayed in the campsite next to the cottage. This is a well kept, budget campsite. The tents are tightly packed together and there are only 2 toilets, which were clean. The showers are also in with the toilets so if two people are having a shower then you may have to wait a while! The site is a bit exposed but the owner has planted some hedging. The field was rutted in places and not flat if you were sleeping on the ground. The local town is a bit run down with no nice eating places. Luckily there are plenty if you drive out a bit further. The washing up station ( only 1) was outdoors and had no hot water.

A good central position - very friendly. The ground could be better for camping & caravanning and at times it was a little crowded. There's a toilet and shower, but we didn't use them due to the number of people on site - we preferred to use our own facilities.
