Glen Clova Getaways - Brandy Cottage

Photo: Glen Clova Estate

Glen Clova lies within the Cairngorms National Park near Kirriemuir, surrounded by the kind of landscape that justifies the journey: walking trails thread through moorland and forest, red squirrels and golden eagles inhabit the glens, and waterfalls punctuate the quiet. The Milton of Clova Car Park sits within reach for those wanting structured walks, though the cottage itself commands enough scenery that time spent on the decking (in summer) or in the hot tub (in winter) is time well spent.

Brandy Cottage is a two-bedroom, two-bathroom property sleeping four, arranged entirely on the ground floor. One bedroom has a double bed with an ensuite shower; the other has two singles. The kitchen comes fully fitted for cooking—oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher—and there's a woodburner in the living room. Wi-Fi, bed linen, towels and logs are included. Heating, electricity and parking for three cars are all covered. One well-behaved pet stays free.

The cottage suits couples, small families or friends who want their own space and views without fuss. No smoking inside. Arrival is after 5pm; departure before 10am.

We got married at Glen Clova Estate and I honestly cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment you arrive, the setting is spectacular - dramatic glen scenery, total privacy, and so many beautiful backdrops to choose from. We used the onsite Kirk for our ceremony and it was absolutely perfect, but there’s also gorgeous space for an outdoor ceremony or the barn if that suits your day better. The biggest thing that set this venue apart for us was being able to have 90 of our 110 guests stay right there on site, with the rest staying locally nearby. It completely transformed the wedding into a mini holiday - everyone travelling from further afield got to properly relax, spend time together over the whole weekend, and there was such a lovely, easy atmosphere because nobody had to think about getting home or finding a taxi. It made the whole event feel so much more special and connected. On top of all that, everything ran like clockwork - the whole weekend was seamless from start to finish, with not a single hitch anywhere along the way. The food was insane. We had a formal sit-down dinner on the wedding day and then a completely different vibe with an informal hog roast the following day - both were incredible and catered for everyone perfectly. But honestly, the biggest star of the show was the staff. They are like built-in wedding planners - they think of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING before you even have to ask. Nothing was too much trouble, every detail was anticipated, and it meant we could actually relax and enjoy our own wedding instead of worrying about logistics. We are so, so grateful to the whole team at Glen Clova. It is the most beautiful, magical place and we’d recommend it to literally everyone getting married. Love love love this venue.

We had a fantastic stay here last week. The location is stunning; our room in the steading was perfect and - most importantly - the staff were really welcoming and friendly. We greatly enjoyed the food too: standouts for us being the eggs Benedict served at breakfast (just one item on a nicely varied menu) and the venison pie. Many thanks to the staff for making our trip so enjoyable.

Walked in to stop for a coffee only to feel as if I had done something wrong. The woman who served me was terribly rude and just left out coffees inside on the table even though we were sat outside enjoying the sun. We had to go and fetch our coffee she couldn’t even be bothered to tell us it was ready. Service was absolutely horrific - what a shame as it’s such a beautiful setting!

As an Aberdeen wedding photographer, a wee trip down the road to Glen Clova is always a treat. The rolling hills are the most stunning backdrop for photos and the new barn is such a perfect space for all sizes and styles of weddings. Mhairi and the team are always so welcoming and the day runs like clockwork. I love the staff's relaxed but efficient style and the food is absolutely delicious. I have photographed a wedding on the hottest day of the year and on a wet, windy December day and the venue works well all year round. If you are looking for a wedding venue I would definitely recommend checking this place out.
