Old Montrose - The Garden Rooms
Angus
Montrose sits on the Angus coast near the Basin Nature Reserve, a haven for birdwatchers and walkers. Old Montrose – The Garden Rooms is a converted potting shed within the grounds of Old Montrose House, one of five separate holiday properties dotted across the owners' estate. What makes this one distinctive is its architecture: half the space is a substantial conservatory, stylishly fitted and oriented to the gardens, while the other half contains the bedroom, kitchen and shower room.
The single bedroom is on the ground floor with an en-suite, and the conservatory opens directly onto the walled garden. You have the run of the grounds, which include formal rose beds with walking routes through them, a tennis court and a putting green. One dog can stay at no extra cost. The essentials – electricity, wi-fi, bed linen and towels – are provided. There is no smoking in the property.
The location works well for exploring the coast and nature reserve, and Montrose town centre is a short drive away. The gardens themselves are extensive enough to spend a full day in, particularly if you enjoy roses or want a quiet spot to sit with a book.
