Old Montrose - The Stables

Montrose Basin Nature Reserve stretches across the water from this corner of Angus, drawing birdwatchers and naturalists year-round. The Stables occupies its own space within the grounds of Old Montrose House, a working estate that also contains three other holiday cottages—near enough for company if needed, far enough for genuine seclusion. This is a two-storey conversion with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, and accommodation for six people; one well-behaved pet stays free.

The interior combines period character with contemporary comfort. A central gallery overlooks the living areas below, and the finish throughout is high-spec: decent furnishings, proper fittings, the kind of detail that matters after a long day. Essentials including bed linen, towels and wi-fi are provided. The kitchen is properly equipped for cooking. Heating and electricity are included in your stay.

Beyond the cottage, guests use a walled garden with rose beds, hard tennis court and putting green—useful on days when the weather turns. Montrose itself, with shops and restaurants, is a short drive away. No smoking inside, please.
