Redroofs By The Woods
Angus
Redroofs By The Woods is a ground-floor property built with accessibility and comfort in mind. Two ensuite bedrooms—one with a zip-and-link super king and one with a double—sit alongside a third full bathroom, so four guests never compete for facilities. The main living space combines dining and sitting areas under high ceilings, with a large double-sided woodburner that works hard through colder months. A separate utility room, sun room and kitchen with full appliances make self-catering straightforward.
The house stands alone on its plot despite adjoining the owner's property, giving genuine privacy while you're surrounded by open countryside on the forest edge. An enclosed garden has seating and a barbecue; there's bike storage for exploring the surrounding area, and covered parking for two cars. A heated indoor swimming pool—6.5m by 3m, open May to September—is about 50 metres away. Essentials including electricity, wifi, bed linen and towels are covered. A travel cot and highchair are available if needed.
Montreathmont Forest draws birdwatchers to nearby Balgavies Loch for waders, ducks, geese and osprey, while the woodland itself is capercaillie habitat. The location has deeper history too: the house sits on ground that was a World War I hospital, and the forest held a secret listening station and codebreaking outpost during World War II. No smoking indoors.
