This five-acre Derbyshire site sits on the edge of Wetton village, right opposite the car park that serves as a launch pad for routes to Thor's Cave, the Manifold Way and plenty more scenery-soaked rambles. Once you've pitched up, you can simply lace your boots and go.
Back on site, there's ample space to spread out on non-electric grass pitches, plus a shower and toilet block with outdoor washing-up facilities and a handy hot-water dog wash. Summer weekends bring an on-site refreshment trailer selling locally sourced Jersey ice cream and hot drinks from 10am to 5pm. The village pub is a two-minute walk for post-hike pints, and there's a weekend tea room if cake appeals more. Some might find the lack of electric hook-ups limiting, but for those after a peaceful, back-to-basics base with Dovedale and even Alton Towers within striking distance, it's hard to beat.

We stayed at Yew Tree Farm Touring and would happily return. On site Showers and toilets are clean and spacious pitches, also on site snack cabin serving hot and cold food. The location is perfect if you enjoy walking straight from the campsite. — No need to drive anywhere once you’ve arrived. There are some beautiful walks right on the doorstep, including routes to Thor’s Cave and along the Manifold Valley, with stunning Peak District scenery throughout. Also pub is just a 2 minute walk from the campsite. Would definitely recommend.

Clean, quiet and well managed campsite. Easy to find and was easy to arrange drop off of firepit and logs on arrival. Plenty of room on pitches. Toilets cleaned twice a day and showers were hot. Great location for easy walks with family and dogs. Snack and drinks truck on site over the weekend was a bonus. Will definitely book again.

Tucked away in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside, Wetton is one of those places that feels like a proper hidden gem. The village itself is peaceful and full of charm, making it the perfect starting point for a scenic walk. But what really stands out, especially if you’re heading up towards Thor's Cave... is the brilliant little portable coffee station and hot food cabin you’ll find at the start of your journey. Before tackling the climb, this spot is an absolute lifesaver. The smell of fresh coffee hits you straight away, and it’s exactly what you want before setting off. The drinks are spot on, properly made and piping hot and the food offering is surprisingly good for such a small setup. Think bacon rolls, hot sandwiches, and simple comfort food done really well. It’s not overcomplicated, just tasty, filling, and served with a smile. What makes it even better is the friendly, welcoming service. There’s a real local feel to it, and you don’t feel rushed, just a nice, relaxed stop where you can take in the surroundings and fuel up. Location wise, it couldn’t be better. Positioned perfectly before the walk up, it breaks the journey nicely and gives you that extra bit of energy for the climb ahead. Whether you’re a seasoned walker or just out for a casual wander, it adds something special to the experience. All in all, Wetton paired with this great little refreshment stop makes the whole trip to Thor’s Cave even more enjoyable...definitely worth a visit.

For us a perfect location. A large field where you could just about pick your spot, although to be fair, it wasn't busy (last weekend of the Easter break). Booked via Pitchup, the day before, absolutely no hassle. Toilets and showers immaculate. Would recommend and would seek out again again when visiting the Peak District.
