A converted farmhouse cottage on a working farm in North Nottinghamshire, Cowslip is a semi-detached property built around comfort and seclusion. Two bedrooms—one with a king bed and ensuite, one with two singles and its own shower room—sleep four, with a second bathroom shared between ground and first floors. The ground floor centres on a living space with a wood burner and Smart TV, opening to a kitchen and dining area equipped for cooking and a separate utility room with a washing machine. Heating comes from a ground source system, and initial logs for the burner are supplied.
What sets it apart is the private hot tub in an enclosed barn area outside, a rare luxury in a rental cottage. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and electricity are all included. The garden has furniture for sitting out, and there is private parking for two cars. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. Smoking is not permitted.
The location works well for exploring North Nottinghamshire's heritage sites—Sherwood Forest and its Major Oak, Clumber Park and Thoresby Park are within reach, as are Creswell Crags with its Ice Age cave paintings and Newstead Abbey, Lord Byron's home. Retford and Bawtry are the nearest market towns for eating and shopping, and the A1 is accessible for onward travel.

Excellent, from when we opened the door until we left. The place was spotless and had everything we needed for a 2 week stay. The towels were soft and the bed was very comfy. The farm was perfectly placed to see and do things during our stay. Also they left some goodies to enjoy. You couldn't ask for anything else. The perfect place to stay with the perfect hosts.

Wonderful Cottage nestled in the North Nottinghamshire Countryside with great transport links to major network links with easy access to A1. We stayed in Olivia cottage in November 2023. The cottage offered such peace and tranquility away from busy working life and a place we truly were able to relax, free from stress following our home flooding. We contacted the hosts who were both accommodating and supportive of the situation and we were sorry to leave a few weeks later, as the cottage gave us time for some much needed R & R. The cottages are set in beautiful grounds with a border of mature and established shrubs, hedging and trees providing complete privacy at the end of a long private driveway. The facilities were brilliant with everything carefully planned and thought out for guests to truly enjoy as much as possible. All facilities including pans/utensils/crockery etc were suitable to make proper meals (no worrying about not having a tin/bottle opener here). We benefited from having the underfloor heating downstairs with a log burner in the living room to keep toasty on extra cold nights. Facilities included fitted kitchen with full oven, hob, extractor, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer box and the entrance utility offers a washing machine, additional storage, coat hooks and leading off from downstairs WC. The cottages have PIR lighting as well as switched lighting which helps with parking outside and the back garden provides a pleasant seating area too. There are two double bedrooms in Olivia Cottage that were ample size with regular changes of bedding and towels as required. The upstairs bathroom has a large bath with power shower and there are radiators too which are set to keep a pleasant ambient temperature. Overall the cottage is very well laid out and offers a separate seating/reading area from the main living space, with plenty of room to explore the books/board games and a history of how the cottages came to be which was really interesting. There is good wi-fi/reception and there are interconnecting doors between to two cottages which lends itself to larger families or a couple of families booking together. There are plenty of local amenities and attractions within 20 minutes drive including Clumber Park, Sherwood Pines, Sherwood Forest, Rufford Abbey and straight on to the A1 Southbound offers easy access to Newark/Grantham for days out. For a short drive north, there's Yorkshire Wildlife Park and Doncaster/Yorkshire Outlet, or a 10 minute drive in to the nearest towns of Retford or Worksop. There is a useful directory to refer to with all local amenities listed. We were really impressed with the accommodation, having stayed in many hotels and holiday lets over the years, this one doesn't disappoint and is a true gem of a find - highly recommend a break here. Ideal for couples or larger families who might want to book both cottages together for a truly relaxing and peaceful break away. Huge thanks to Lindsay and Dave for being such fantastic hosts. Highly recommend.

Nestled on its own private plot, Ranby Cottage Farm is gloriously isolated and and yet simultaneously only a few minutes from the A1/M opening up Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire for you to explore. Having said that you may never want to leave the cottage. Clever use of space has turned the original three workers’ cottages into two spacious holiday homes. We stayed in “Cowslip” but I am certain that “Olivia” next door is presented to the same high standard. Each cottage has its own small private garden at the rear and shared use of the roughly one acre garden at the front ... so long as you are also happy to share the space with the wild rabbits, owls and house martins that also call Ranby Farm home. The owners seem to have thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible from the expected (pots, pans and utensils) to the delightfully unexpected – bath gowns and flip flops to use with the hot tub. Which brings us neatly to Cowslip’s pièce de résistance. The hot tub itself is only for Cowslip’s use and is situated in a outbuilding a few steps from the back door. Having a roof means you can relax and enjoy the bubbles regardless of whatever the English weather can throw at you. In summary, if you are looking for a holiday let that caters to your every whim, you can do no better.
