About Flitwick Manor Hotel

Bedfordshire is well placed for a country escape, with Woburn Abbey and the Swiss Garden both within reach, and Flitwick Manor Hotel makes a comfortable base for exploring the area. Set within its own grounds in Bedford, the manor combines a traditional country-house feel with the practicalities of a proper hotel, from free on-site parking to a garden and picnic area for warmer days.

The 18 rooms are en-suite, with family and accessible options available, air conditioning and room service among the comforts on offer; some rooms show their age, though the overall welcome tends to make up for it. Food is a strong point, with a restaurant serving fresh, carefully prepared dishes, a popular afternoon tea and Sunday roasts that draw regular praise, alongside a bar, kids' meals and breakfast each morning.

Staff are consistently noted for being attentive and friendly, adding to the relaxed atmosphere across the grounds and public areas. The hotel also handles weddings and meetings, with meeting rooms and business services on hand, while golf, fishing and watersports are all available nearby for those wanting to venture further afield. Pets are welcome, and laundry and luggage storage services are provided for longer stays.

A real hidden gem. All the staff have been amazing no matter what their position the the hotel. Rooms were clean and in keeping with the period property. Though aside the quietness around the estate and plenty of room to sit. The food was absolutely amazing. Every meal we had was presented well, the food was hot and titilated the taste buds.

Afternoon tea for our ‘Not a Wedding’ celebration. Lovely selection of fresh sandwiches, cakes and scones served with tea and prosecco. Very relaxed but friendly atmosphere. Attentive but not intrusive staff. Fabulous backdrop for photographs, loved the decor. Thank you!

Charming but in need of updating. Peaceful area and a nice hour's stroll (or less) into the attached Manor Park and its lovely pinetum. It was very muddy and boggy in the park in February, wellies are a must! Our room (12) was classed as a 'superior' but I don't think that was warranted. I've seen far nicer rooms on the website, perhaps we drew the short straw. We had a double bed which felt small, these days I like a king in a superior room. We were up in the roof with an anteroom up a very narrow and winding stair, a maid's room perhaps. Characterful. But the bathroom needed regrouting, a couple of tears in the wallpaper and the small window needed replacing. The shower pressure was pretty useless! Not bad on cold but hot was a trickle. It took ages to rinse the soap off. Overall, not bad for night, but we wouldn't come back.

In room two, one of the bedside lights didn't work because the plug outlet doesn't work at all. The fully floating toilet seat was a balancing act and the bath was so high off the floor I had to assist my wife to get in and out of the tub. The fancy coffee machine didn't work, glad there was a kettle for backup. Next morning, I reported these things to the young lady at reception when she managed to put her phone down (not the house phone) and said she would make a note of it. Our friends in room one said they couldn't stand up in the bath to take a shower because of the sloping ceiling so they had to squat and splash in the tub. I worked hard for my money and I would expect considerably better facilities for the £250 I paid for two rooms for one night. I can't honestly recommend staying here.
