The lake is surrounded by gorgeous Staffordshire countryside, making it a lovely spot for a walk, a picnic or just somewhere to escape for a few hours and enjoy the fresh air. Free roadside parking if you can find any but honestly its easier to park at the pub and either have a drink or pay the £3 alp day parking fee. There’s plenty to make a full day of it too, including the lovely little miniature railway which runs alongside the lake — such a fun addition, especially if you’re visiting with children or just love a little old-fashioned charm! 🚂 There’s also a pub right by the lake, which is perfect for stopping for a drink or something to eat after exploring. Walking alongside the water, watching the boats go by and taking in the countryside views is so relaxing. It feels like a proper little escape from everyday life. If you’re looking for somewhere scenic with walks, water views, a miniature railway and somewhere to stop for food and drinks, I’d definitely recommend Rudyard Lake. 🌳🚂🍻

We visited Rudyard Lake with our kayak and had a day launch pass. The parking was down a lane so slightly difficult to access and I can imagine it gets busy in the summer so would advise getting there early. The day pass comes with parking so that was a great perk. The launch area for kayaks was easily accessible and the ranger checking us in was friendly and even offered to help us set up our gear. The lake is beautiful and very peaceful and wasn’t very busy. This was a Sunday in early May. The wind did pick up towards the north end of the lake but didn’t have too much effect on our travels. There was even a small beach where we stopped to have our picnic. Wouldn’t recommend doing that on the beach with the cows. The only downside to the lake was the wait for the cafe as the queue wasn’t moving so we left the queue after about 10 minutes. The offerings at the cafe looked really nice and we would definitely try again when it is less busy.

Really nice walk for people and dogs. We went midweek in February so it was very quiet. There is a small amount of parking ( pay and display) available. Disabled parking was only £1. A nice little coffee shop overlooking the lake. Our dog was a little young to walk too far but the dirt paths along the East side were very easy and flat underfoot. I think the whole perimeter is only around 6/7 miles but even an out-&-back like we did was very enjoyable. A lovely picturesque location

Absolutely beautiful calm lake. Lovely lakeside cafe with friendly staff. Spent the afternoon on the lake, launched our own paddleboards! Loved our time here! Other boats and paddleboards available for hire as well.
