Tucked into a wildflower meadow beside the River Dwyryd in Snowdonia National Park, Llechrwd occupies a peaceful valley setting on the A496 near Maentwrog—seven miles inland from Portmeirion and convenient for both mountain walks and coastal drives. The upper field offers electric hookups, while the riverside pitches stay quieter and more secluded; campfires and barbecues are both allowed, adding to the relaxed, outdoorsy atmosphere. Facilities stay deliberately simple: a modern shower block with disabled and family rooms, individual toilet cubicles, and a washing-up area, but no shop or Wi-Fi on site.
Campers appreciate the proximity to the Ffestiniog Railway and climbing routes around Blaenau Ffestiniog, though some note the site can feel a touch worn in places and road noise occasionally carries from the A496. Dogs are welcome year-round on leads, and pricing remains very reasonable—from around £13 for solo backpackers to roughly £30 for two adults with a tent and hookup.

Had a lovely few days. Beautiful scenery. Nice and environmentally friendly. Facilities were well stocked and clean. Owners were very approachable and friendly. We didn't need anything but imagine they would bend over backwards to make your stay as pleasant as possible if you did need them. Great location for walks, the bus t22 runs close, and most importantly, walking distance to 3 pubs. Will definitely come back and stay maybe next to the river - when we a brave enough to leave the hook up at home!

Pulled in spontaneously. Glad we did, owner is pleasant. Toliets are clean. Very calm and peaceful down by the river, perfect for the young ones to paddle. Not a lot on site no shop or anything it's basically someone's garden but very peaceful will return.

We visited this campsite some time ago and we had a great time, the owners are friendly, the location is great, and there's loads of trees around so there's not too much wind which is great! All the facilities are there fridge, washing machine, washing up area, showers.... no need to worry about anything simply go and enjoy your time. Next time we're in Wales, we'll definitely visit
