Woolley Grange Hotel

We had a wonderful stay at Woolley Grange. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful, with stunning surroundings and a warm, relaxing atmosphere. The building and gardens are lovely, and it’s clear that a lot of care has gone into creating such a special place. Unfortunately, the dining experience did not reflect the standard of the hotel. While the staff were polite and friendly, many of them appeared very young, lacking confidence and proper training. Service was consistently slow, and even simple orders took a long time to arrive. For a hotel of this calibre, we expected a much more polished and professional level of service. The biggest disappointment was the food. During our four-day stay, we genuinely struggled to find a meal that met our expectations. The dishes were extremely basic, lacking both quality and creativity. When staying at a luxury hotel, guests naturally expect the food and service to match the overall experience. Sadly, that wasn’t the case here. It’s a real shame because Woolley Grange is a beautiful hotel with so much potential. With improvements to the restaurant, food quality, and staff training, it could truly offer the complete luxury experience that its setting deserves.

We had a wonderful trip with our 3 boys ages 8-12. The focus of the hotel seemed to be for children a bit younger than ours, but our children still had a wonderful time. While there were not that many activities on paper, we found that we had a great relaxing time letting the children play on the zip line, explore the grounds, go on a sheep hunt, and decompress from the busyness of our previous vacation days in London. We ended up renting a canal boat for the day just a couple miles down the road which the kids loved and the hotel was conveniently located for this.

We visited for Sunday lunch. One of the meals was forgotten and we had to chase. Nobody came over to check how the meals were or if we wanted more drinks. The plates weren’t cleared for ages. No staff even glanced in our direction so we had to get up and order drinks. The red wine choice was very limited and they didn’t then have the wine we ordered in stock. This is a beautiful local venue but after today’s unacceptably poor service we will not return.

This could be the perfect hotel for families. A beautiful house and location. They have spent big on great interior design and the rooms are awesome. We had a really well designed adult room joined to a great kids space. The kids club, cinema, outdoor play area and swimming pools are all great and give plenty for our under 10s to do. The gardens are beautiful. But the food and service need some real love. The food quality is poor, think very cheap white sliced bread at breakfast, tinned fruit. Lunch and dinner just all very basic options, we found better food at the farm cafe round the corner. Staff were friendly and nice, but really lacked effort. Dirty plates left on the table for 45 minutes after we finished eating, no one coming to offer deserts. If we wanted a drink we had to go and find someone and ask. Orders were often missing things. They served adult food before kids food. There was a swimming pool surrounded with people and no one offering a coffee. We saw tables in the bar area left with dirty glasses on for over and hour. This is not 4 star service. Better quality food and more energy and training in the staff and this place could be awesome.
