Doormouse Cottage

This cottage dates back centuries, with the character and proportions of a traditional Essex building. Inside, the ground floor holds a living and dining room opening onto a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, with an electric oven and hob. Beyond that, a back garden with seating looks out over quiet countryside. Upstairs are two bedrooms—a double and a single—and a bathroom with bath and shower. The essentials are covered: electricity, heating, Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels are all included, along with a washing machine if you need it.

The cottage sleeps three and is yours alone for the duration of your stay. One dog is welcome. There is on-road parking with space to unload at the door, plus access to a public car park nearby. Colchester itself sits within reach, as does the River Blackwater for walks. The Dog & Pheasant pub is close by. The location works well for exploring Essex's quieter corners, whether that means country rambles, visiting Mersea Island or simply spending evenings by the fire. No smoking inside.
