Secret Spot

This converted stable near Porthcawl started life as an artist's studio and still displays some of that work throughout. The single open-plan room combines living, kitchen and sleeping areas, with a separate shower room. You get a double bed (4ft 6in), electric cooking, Freeview TV, and everything needed for a self-catering break—electricity, linen and towels are covered, along with Wi-Fi. The space is all on ground level, accessed via seven steps with a boot room giving you room to settle in before entering the main accommodation.

Outside, the property sits behind a gate with parking for one car and additional on-road spaces. There's a seating area and the garden is enclosed. One large dog or two small dogs stay free; smoking is not permitted. The location suits dog owners particularly well—a dog-friendly pub sits across the way, and a dog-friendly beach is less than a mile off. Porthcawl itself has a working harbour, surf schools and an amusement park nearby. Note that the property is for adults only (no children under 16), and loose gravel surrounds the building so care is needed underfoot.
