About Green Spirit Retreat

Tucked between ancient ley lines on the Somerset Levels, this single-pitch retreat offers something genuinely special for self-contained campervans seeking solitude. You'll park on gravel with a private raised lawn and sunken firepit, gazing out over vast wetland views that turn spectacular at sunset. The birdwatching is exceptional – cranes, great white egrets, marsh harriers and kingfishers are regular visitors, while winter brings mesmerising starling murmurations over the reeds.

Being entirely off-grid means no hook-ups, water or waste facilities, but the neighbouring wellbeing centre opens its woodfired sauna, oak-barrel cold plunge and hot showers for a small extra charge – a atmospheric compensation. Dogs are welcome on leads. Twenty minutes from Glastonbury, this is gloriously peaceful wild camping with a side of wellness, though the lack of basic facilities won't suit everyone.

Having stayed here before with friends and been very impressed my wife and I grabbed a Monday to Friday break in early January as a couple as it was great value and a chance to get away after a hectic Christmas. We stayed in the 2 berth sail loft which was the only lodge without a hot tub. We usually like a hot tub but happy to compromise as it was reflected in the price. This gave us the chance to explore a bit which we were pleased we did. As we experienced before, the whole process of checking in and managing our stay was flawless. We had a great time in a well appointed lodge. To cap it all I left some small belongs behind and after contacting the lodge they quickly located them and posted them back to me only asking for me to cover the cost of postage which I was more than happy to do. Every member of staff we encountered was welcoming and friendly. This place is an absolute gem.

We visit every year for an annual reunion trip, relishing the spa experience and the beautiful surrounding walks. It’s a low-key retreat that provides the much-needed respite we all crave, as well as a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends. The on-site café and restaurant continue to impress, especially the fabulous Sunday lunch (be sure to book ahead). The spa is equally delightful, and this year I had the pleasure of a full-body massage with the wonderful Jess. Despite her petite stature, she delivered an incredibly firm and effective massage, alleviating much of the tension in my back. The lodges are lovely and were refurbished a few years ago. However, this year they seemed to need a bit of TLC. Some long-standing suggestions we’ve made over the years have yet to be addressed, such as adding a full-length mirror in the hall and adjusting the extractor fan, which is set too low—causing all of us to bump our heads! Additionally, the kitchen could use a fresh coat of paint and some worktop re-oiling. The plumbing also needs attention, as water pooled in the showers and sinks, emitting an unpleasant odor from the main kitchen sink. Lastly, while check-out is at 10 a.m., the hot tub servicing began at 9:20 a.m., which was slightly intrusive—particularly when a staff member appeared right outside my window as I was getting ready! Despite these minor frustrations, this remains a cherished getaway for us, and we look forward to returning. With a bit of maintenance and attention to detail, it could be truly exceptional.

Had a wonderful Monday - Friday break with my family. We stayed in Levels View which was spacious and immaculate. The little welcome hamper was such a lovely touch and the hot tub was a definite bonus - especially in the colder weather! We enjoyed a tasty lunch in the restaurant on site. Me + my mum also indulged in a much needed spa day with a massage. Facilities were amazing, we even braved the ice bucket! Would definately recommend + we will be sure to book again! All the staff we spoke to on our stay were friendly + welcoming too.

This is a lovely place very tucked out the way, we booked it for our wedding anniversary. The online checkin process is confusing, on the app it says you will get a digital key for your door and you will be notified when your room is ready. This is not the case and you have to go to spa reception. All the numbers to call from the app go to a private mobile and the WhatsApp option does not work at all. Staff were friendly and took us down to the Sail Lodge we booked, talked through the lodge and gave all the information we needed. From the booking it seemed like the spa was available as part of the stay this was also not the case and needed to be booked separately. Unfortunately the day we stayed it was fully booked for a private event.
