About The Wave

Pitched just 200 metres from the UK's first inland surfing lake, The Wave turns a day on the water into a proper surf-camp adventure. Non-electric grass pitches put you within minutes of catching waves from dawn patrol onwards, with a dedicated surf school, skate ramp and play area keeping the whole crew entertained. The lively Clubhouse serves everything from early breakfasts to post-sunset pizzas, plus there's a surf shop for any gear you've forgotten.

It's a brilliantly social, sporty vibe – perfect for groups of friends, families or solo surfers – though don't expect luxury: there's no hot water in the facilities and the set-up can feel fairly basic. Still, waking to the sound of the lake and being wave-side in moments is hard to beat.

When you fancy a break from the water, Bristol's wider attractions await nearby: ice skating, SS Great Britain, Bristol Zoo Project and Aerospace Bristol are all within easy reach, making this an excellent base for an active city-meets-surf escape.

What visitors say

FRANEK TOCZYNSKI

We haven't used the pool yet, but the facility itself made a very good impression on me. It's definitely worth a visit, even just for a stroll. There's also a fun playground on site and access to delicious coffee and ice cream.

I haven't been here to surf so cannot comment on the actual wave other than saying it's pretty cool to watch. The platform to walk down the middle and watch is great. I have however been to the way many times with my two small children. The car park is a bit of a walk from the wave but this is actually what we normally comes for. It's a very long straight walkway that is absolutely perfect for the kids to take their scooters on. It's a nice walk with various mini climbing things for children and adults kids to play on along the way. The coffee/ restaurant/ shop area is a nice place to relax. My only complaint is although the coffee tastes good, for some reason it is always Luke warm. Please turn up the temp on your coffee machine!!!!! Outside there is a fun play area for kids with a decent treehouse thing with a slide which my kids love and also a sand pit and swings. You can walk all around wmthe wave which is always calm and quiet and there is a skatepark to the site. We enjoy coming here!

Visited on Sunday for an Improver lesson at the Sister Sessions. What an incredible day. The coaches and other women were so supportive and encouraging. Everyone lifted each other up. The atmosphere was lush! Great DJ, hearty food. Cannot recommend more highly.Thank you to all of the staff at The Wave for a perfect day. I will be back soon!

Nice place, nice vibes, nice staff, nice waves! I've been there twice already and will keep on visiting. During my first visit, M5 closed due to a collision so i was running late. I contacted the guys, explained the situation and they booked me in for a later session. Excellent experience with everyone so far. Also, the scrambled eggs i ate, at the restaurant there, were by far the most tasty i have eaten in my life. Keep it up guys!
