About The Players Golf Club
Golfers have plenty to keep them busy around The Players Golf Club, on Wapley Road near Bristol, with two full 18-hole courses and a par 3 course all within easy reach of the front door. Fishing is also nearby for those wanting a change of pace, and the greens themselves are consistently well kept, making this a sound base for a golf-centred stay rather than a city-break hotel.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, family and accessible options, and drinks available in-room, though some accommodations here show signs of wear and could do with more attention. A bar, outdoor seating and a games room give guests places to unwind after a round, while breakfast and kids' meals cover the basics for families. Staff are consistently helpful, and the food on offer is a genuine highlight.
Practical extras include free on-site parking, free WiFi, a lift, 24-hour reception, and meeting rooms and business services for those combining golf with work. It suits guests whose main plan is time on the course rather than exploring further afield.

Fantastic 3-Day Golf Break – Ideal Venue for a Lads’ Golf Weekend We recently stayed at The Players Club for a three-day golf break, and I can honestly say we all had a brilliant time. There were 24 of us in the group, and from the moment we arrived until we left, everything ran smoothly thanks to the fantastic staff. The golf was the main reason for our visit, and both courses were in really good condition despite the recent dry weather. The greens rolled well, the fairways were in great shape, and it’s clear the greenkeeping team take a lot of pride in maintaining the courses. The Strachan course definitely deserves a special mention. It’s a proper test of golf and certainly isn’t one for anyone who sprays the ball around! It’s a very tight layout with water hazards on numerous holes, so accuracy is far more important than distance. My biggest piece of advice would be to pack plenty of golf balls. The rough was particularly long during our visit and incredibly punishing. On more than one occasion we hit what looked like a perfectly reasonable tee shot, only for a slightly unfortunate bounce off the fairway to send the ball into the rough where it completely disappeared. Even with several pairs of eyes looking, some balls were simply never found. It definitely adds to the challenge and makes you think carefully about every shot. The accommodation was also excellent. I stayed in Room 24 overlooking the 18th green, and it was a great room. It was spacious, spotlessly clean, well presented, and had everything I needed for the stay. The bed was comfortable, it was nice and quiet at night, and I slept really well on both nights. Waking up and looking out over the finishing hole before heading down for breakfast was a lovely way to start each day. Speaking of breakfast, the buffet each morning was excellent. There was plenty of choice, everything was fresh, and it certainly filled us up before heading out for another round of golf. It’s exactly what you want before spending several hours on the course. The evening meals were enjoyable too. If I was being really picky, I’d say the food in the evening could have been organised just a little better, but that’s a very minor criticism in what was otherwise an excellent stay. Nothing spoiled our enjoyment, and everyone in our group was more than happy with the food overall. One of the biggest positives was how well the venue caters for larger groups. Organising a golf trip for 24 people can sometimes be stressful, but everything seemed effortless. The clubhouse has a great atmosphere, and after golf we spent plenty of time in both the 19th Bar and the downstairs bar. I think it’s fair to say we gave them a decent workout over the weekend, we nearly managed to drink both bars dry! There was always a relaxed, friendly atmosphere, making it the perfect place to unwind, catch up with friends, and relive the day’s golf. Finally, a huge thank you to every member of staff. Every single person we met was friendly, polite, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to enjoy helping guests. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble, and their relaxed but professional attitude really helped make the whole weekend so enjoyable. Overall, this is a fantastic venue for a golf break, especially if you’re planning a lads’ weekend away. Great golf, comfortable accommodation, excellent breakfast, a lively clubhouse, and outstanding staff all combined to make it a trip we’ll remember for a long time. We’ll definitely be returning, and I’d happily recommend The Players Club to anyone looking for a quality golfing getaway

We stayed and played in January after a prolonged period of extremely heavy rain. We played both courses and the water garden. The greens across all courses were exceptional for the conditions. The fairways and tees were a bit squelchy but just about playable. Both courses were enjoyable but the Codrington was a level above with lots of memorable holes. We stayed in one of the new hotel rooms which were excellent. The food was basic but very good quality. All the staff in the pro shop and the clubhouse were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this course and we will be back in the summer to play the Codrington Course in slightly dryer conditions.

Great round of golf, the course had obviously experienced alot of rain over the past week but other than a few wet areas the fairways were good and the greens excellent. £50 a round and worth it, I hired an electric trolley and it was worth it. Nice pint after looking over the 18th. Recommended.

Yes, the entrance driveway is long! Worth the drive though. We were hosted for a golf weekend break with a group of 24. One night's stay, 27 holes of golf on the first day including bacon rolls and 18 holes on the second day including a 2 course evening dinner. A great set up which felt seamless thanks to the catering staff and bar team. As you expect we enjoyed the bar and it's offerings; a good selection of drinks all served with a friendly smile. The bar area also offers two smaller rooms which include darts area/golf simulator and a pool/billiards room. Great fun and just what we needed to keep us all entertained. The accommodation was fine for our needs. It was clean, modern and well maintained. The golf courses were in great condition, my favourite being the Codrington course. Lots of water involved compared with most golf courses which adds to the challenge. Many a ball became victim of a wet bath. The pro shops offers everything you would need. They have trolleys, electric trolleys and buggies all for hire. I paid £15 per day for the electric trolley. Practice facilities are more than adequate; lots of putting greens, small par 3 course, chipping area and driving range. Nothing better than using up all the good shots during practice. Overall we all had a great weekend and would like this to become an annual visit. Based around 30 minutes outside of Bristol you can also opt for a chilled out (read beer and curry fuelled) visit to finish your weekend correctly.
