About The Llanelwedd Arms Hotel

The Llanelwedd Arms Hotel stands in the village of Llanelwedd, on the opposite bank of the Wye from Builth Wells and only a short walk from the Royal Welsh Showground. The building's Victorian frontage sits over seventeenth-century foundations, giving it the uneven floors and thick walls typical of a much older Welsh coaching inn.

Rooms are simply furnished and comfortable, and the hotel's restaurant has built a local reputation for its menu, which includes a distinctive boutique Thai selection alongside more traditional pub dining. A bar serving local ales completes the picture of a proper village inn rather than a corporate hotel.

Its position close to the showground makes it a favourite during Royal Welsh Show week and other events, while its short walk into Builth Wells across the river keeps the town centre within easy reach for the rest of the year.

Stayed here with friends for one night only, lovely welcome from the owner when we arrived, rooms were clean and tidy, the bed smelled of freshly laundered sheets and pillows which was completely different to hotel chains, it made me feel relaxed and helped me sleep in the comfortable bed, nice bathroom with so many toiletries to many to mention. Breakfast was a traditional Welsh breakfast with toast and tea. Presented lovely on a big plate. We didn't use the restaurant in the evening because we had a prior engagement. I would highly recommend staying at the Llanelwedd Arms Hotel, and I will definatly be returning.

Arrived at the hotel as a group of four after cycling in torrential rain from Shrewsbury. Received a warm welcome on arrival with assistance offered to dry our wet clothes in the boiler room. Proprietor provided advice on places to eat and drink locally and was most hospitable. Rooms were clean and comfortable with pleasant views of the river opposite. Breakfast was made to order and of good quality.

Stopped off for an overnight stay on the way to Swansea. Sorry I didn't arrive earlier! Beautiful room, super comfortable bed, excellent crisp bedding, extra large towels, lovely toiletries, and a warm welcome (even though I arrived super late) I'd definitely stay again.

Friendly check in (just be aware that you may need to phone to be let in so ensure you have mobile signal!) Room was very cosy and nice of warm, good strong hot shower and plentiful toiletries. Friendly owner who offered to open the bar for us if needed (it’s a lovely pub but sadly not open to the public anymore due to running costs)
