About The Willows Campsite

Tucked away near West Row, The Willows Campsite draws visitors with its generous pitches, all equipped with electric hook-ups, and clean if basic shower and toilet facilities. The real draw here is the proximity to RAF Mildenhall – there's even a dedicated viewing platform for watching military aircraft, making this a quietly brilliant spot for aviation enthusiasts. The helpful staff maintain a peaceful atmosphere despite the airbase nearby, though the roar of jets won't suit everyone.

Dogs are welcome, and practical touches like WiFi, drinking water points and waste disposal keep things running smoothly. It's a straightforward, well-kept base for exploring Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding Suffolk countryside, with that unusual bonus of front-row seats to some impressive low-flying action.

Great place to plane watch, located at the end of the runway with a viewing platform. Our first time, but lots of regulars it seems and lots of help if you're new to planes. Pitches are flat and a decent size. Book in advance is recommended. Toilets and facilities are clean, shower takes 50p pieces. Enjoyed our two day visit.. Recommended..

One of the best family camping holidays we have had! The children loved planes, pitches were good sizes and all electric. Only gripe was wash up water wasn't always hot but not an issue as we boiled a kettle! We will definitely be returning!

First & foremost this is a great site for plane watching as it’s literally at the end of the runway at Mildenhall & even has a viewing platform. However regrettably I have to say the campsite itself could be so much nicer, lovely in fact, sadly it’s clearly unloved & uncared for, upon arrival you are greeted with an abundance of scruffy caravans in storage at the entrance, along with tall weeds everywhere, first impressions are not great. The site is quite uneven with lots of dips, hedges are uncut, very untidy & overgrown, also we were parked alongside some very unsightly outbuildings, such a shame as site has great potential. I get that most people stay here for the planes & to them maybe the sites appearance is not so important, but you are paying to stay on a campsite which sadly falls below the standard we are used to.

Great place to watch Military aircraft as its virtually on the edge of Mildenhall airbase, it has a viewing platform, small site mixed in with van storage, pitches are generous, ehu, water showers are based in an outside setting and cost 50p but run nice and hot.
